After several years expectations, National Board for Technical Education finally accreditation HND program for Department of Electrical/Electronics Engineering in Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua. This has been a welcome development especially as most student who have successfully completed their National Diploma in the said department have been waiting for a day like this. Though many have resorted to other polytechnics or Universities (as in cases of those who wish to acquire degree qualifications) for completion of their academic careers. Many have been glamouring for the time that HND programe will be accredited in their beloved department in the school.

All thanks to the Executive state Governor, His excellence, Governor Udom Emmanuel, the school Rector, Barr Israel Afia, the Dean, school of Engineering, Engineer Anjah, the Head of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Department, Engineer Nsikak Afia and all the staff of the school of Engineering both teaching and non-teaching.

The admission portal for 2017/2018 school year was opened on the 13th February 2018 and since then, alot of prospective students have visited the site with intention of registering. However, it is to be noted that although NBTE accredited more than one HND option in the department, the 2017/2018 admission in the department is only for Electronics and Telecommunications options. Other options are due to start by 2018/2019 school year.
