Does High JAMB Score Automatically Grant You Admission? by holuwajobar(m): 4:32am On Feb 28, 2018
@ADMISSIONTIPZ

This is one question student ask me on a daily basis, "does high score in JAMB automatically grant you admission into University?"

Let me be straight with my answers, No, high score in JAMB doesn't automatically grant you admission. why?

1. You will have to sit for Post JAMB which means that if you fail your post JAMB exam, then your JAMB score is automatically a waste.

2. You must have a Good WAEC result because most schools/universities use your WAEC grade to calculate your final aggregate (point system). Schools/universities like OAU, UI and UNILAG.

Jambites and Readers, what is your say about this topic?

does high JAMB score grant automatically grant you admission ? or not?

It depends on the course you want to study and your score
Re: Does High JAMB Score Automatically Grant You Admission? by fajul: 7:11am On Feb 28, 2018
I had 255 in Jamb in 2007 but was not given admission to study medicine and a friend who had 190 was given medicine because he knows someone.
I had to rewrite Jamb again the next year and had 279 and I was given because someone had to help me.

My WAEC and NECO were A and B grades and I could choose any either of them to use.

Your chances of admission in Nigeria even with high grades are low.

Sometimes, the admission officers and VC sell the admission slots and in one day, they could raise millions with courses as medicine, pharmacy etc.

With a high JAMB score, there is 80 percent chance of gaining admission into some universities

Your high score will get you somewhere, but not a guarantee for a sure admission. Most schools still place much emphasis on their post-utme exams during admission processing...

The best combination so far is to get high jamb score + have money + knowing the right people... It works like magic.

It's a plus though but not really workable in our crooked up education system

It depends on the course you want and the university you pick. For certain schools your Jamb score is just 50% of the overall aggregate for others it could be higher or lower.

It does help to have a high Jamb score there's no doubt about that, but other areas like O level and post utme should be given adequate attention to maximize your chances.

Same scenario happens in ABU that I also write about. Nigeria education system needs thorough reshuffling! sad unfortunately the girl in question was not even given admission.

Hypocrisy of the Quota System in ABU's Admission strategy!

Case study; Aspirant - MISTURA OLASUBOMI OLANIYAN, Reg No - 75784363HA

(By - Akano Mutiu, ABU Zaria)

Idle hand they say is the devil's workshop. But when someone strive, work and produce, yet, not still getting any positive result, proceeds depression.

2017/2018 admission process is still ongoing, but what prompt this write up is that justice have not been done to some dear aspirant.

In this economic crisis we face in Nigeria today, Many still struggle to get the JAMB form. Having gone through rigorous reading for the exams, exhausting countless candle at night, and eventually, came out with excellent results yet still regretted after the institution failed to grant them admission!

A case study is a very brilliant young lady of required knowledge by name, MISTURA OLASUBOMI OLANIYAN with Reg No; 75784363HA whom hails from OYO state. She opted for PHARMACY and courageously score 294 in her JAMB. As if she knew that will not be enough, she sat for the POST-UTME, yet scored a whopping 301 (Merit by grade), averaging 298 in total. My thought of her not getting admission could be because of her state of origin - OYO State, therefore exposing the hypocrisy behind the QUOTA SYSTEM. The last time I checked, the JAMB score required for studying PHARMACY in any institution in Nigeria ranges from 240-280.

My concern now on this issue is just that, why will the QUOTA SYSTEM not favour someone on merit? Or is this just a show of hypocrisy behind the QUOTA SYSTEM brouhaha?

The needful that must be done with no apologies is that, her required course (PHARMACY) should be granted without further delay base in what merit demand.

Which school is that? Because 190 won't get you medicine in most Federal universities, no matter who you know. So tell us the school.

Southerners that value education & life, to enter university na hassle.

Northerners that don't value education & life get entry based on quota.

This quota no reach govt appointments oh.

Na why I say the South get to leave the North
