since i was born in this state,i know what it means to be a lagosian.There has been a vast level of improvement in lagos state and its so good.it is great and awesome infrastructurally,economically and academically.However,these points i want to state are what needs to be resolved in time for lagos to be a centre of excellence for everybody.
1)High level of unemployment:if there is going to be a change in lagos,government must set up a hourly employment plan policy and shed the expectations put on long term employment.if people have can make a meagre 3k per hour job or per day job in lagos it is better than a 500k job that would not pay workers a year or a month.
2)equal opportunites for every person:pay as you work,rent as you work,own as you work according to your purchasing power.However,the midincome and lowincome earners are not able to get a suitable accomodation.only the rich do get the best.
3)Vandalization of Government projects and facilities:Mismanagement of human resources inturn leads to

resources lead to mismangagement of govt properties,installation or public utilities or mechanisms.people who do not benefit from govt largesse corruptly tend to wreck such govt functions or service making it inept to the disadvantages of others.many public organizations are suffering from such things and people would say its lack of maintenance culture.
5)Slums & Ghetto's:i congratulate Gov Ambode on the work he is doing,but let me state that many areas still have not been touched.
6)Bush republic must be eradicated.lagosians constitute the attitude of throwing refuse in any bush they see!
it is a failure of human character.They also constitute the habit of throwing refuse in the gutter and canal during rainfall.
LASG must set up an anti disposal refuse law to stop these acts and also a law enforcement monitoring team to clear up refuse that block drainges during rainfall.
7)lack of an organized local market:i do not know why markets create an eyesore everywhere.it sucks when what is sold on the streets

when what is sold on the streets is perishable or what is sold on the wayside.so annoying it is.i dislike it all.Then the government must set up an after market cleaning policy.ie all marketers must clean up their market after the days sale.i hate dirty markets.
Go slow:if The BRT is operating on load time or sells a 1mth ticket card that can be recharged by passengers,then people won't be queueing to get tickets and the bus would move faster.if also certain routes are closed and open by latsma after work hours,it would make traffic 4 workers going home easier.kudos to latsma but they should introduce timed routes to ease traffic.it would discouragd rush hour.helicopter services must begin for lagosians.
9)Filth generation.if lagosians were to have a memory verse in the bible it would be a crooked and filth generation.its so saddening.govt needs to give orientation to its people to stop throwing filth.stop the filth culture!
10)Thuggery& Cultism:lagos state neighbourhood safety corps are doing a great job

11)Lack of uniformed real estate plan in the mainland:The way houses are built across the canal,right of way,under high tension wires,on government unclaimed property is so annoying that you c scattered topography of the landscape.
Government has a lot of work to do to make lagos a megacity.1st they have to compensate landlords who built on wrong areas to evict.
2nd lagos state should create duplexes any place that is demolished for affordable housing to be accesible in non residential areas.eg if they build 7 7 stories 5 by 5 bedroom flats in a non residential areas and make them affordible then it would be ok.

Devaluation of lower denomination currencies:New york,dubai,paris etc all use coins still to buy somethings and its little things they use to get big things to buy that in Lagos we use larger currencies to buy little things.its a big shame that we are using notes to buy biscuits,sweets,food in resturants,barbecue and canned drinks.so we waste time and energy on finding change.
we spoil kids and encourage them to be wreckless and spendrift.
when we do not discipline our kids with financial mgt with 1k,2k,5kobo,10kobo,20kobo ,25kobo,50 and 100kobo before N1 and 5 and upwards then kids become corrupt.
i remember buying 5 kulikuli for N2:50k in 1998 to drink garri
bread was N20 then.
year 2000came and all that became history.what a shame!
it's so sad.

12)Illegal conversion of residential areas to commercial purposes:i think this act started in 2007.residential apartments were converted into commercial.
Houses became schools overnight ,houses became churches because they paid the landlords higher,houses became spas and saloons,resturants,nursery and primary schools .i wouldn't have complained if such got approval and were located in areas where there was lack of government functionaries or basic amenities.
what is rather annoying is the rate at which residential areas are converted to churches and mosques and bringing noise pollution to neighbours.
They are converted in old houses and bad locations.
This is why there are no affordible accomodation in lagos mainland.lasg must do something about it.it must be done or lagos would be a pariah state.

13)Bad maintenance of government property or projects:Goverment properties are vandalized by the citizenry in the cause of protests or expressing their grieviances.it's like a law of karma.Those who are stopped from benefitting corruptly from a good system,vandalize it before they leave.its a fact that is imbibed by government workers.Those who imitate the government do so because public servants steal and go unpunished.when an institution outlives its purpose,it becomes useless.The public corporations like Nepa,Nipost,Nitel,Public telephone have been phased out by bad maintenance policy.There is a need for reorientation and civil education.Lawma did a good job,but why was it phased out? for CLI.if workers are not maintained then don't expect public institutions to render good services.
