Apple To Launch A Cheaper Macbook Air This Year by Mogenerous(f): 2:01pm On Mar 06, 2018
Over the years, Apple has been accused of things, but being “cheap” isn’t one of them. If you want to own a brand new Apple-branded laptop, then the cheapest option is the MacBook Air, which starts at $999. Beyond that there’s the MacBook and MacBook Pro starting at $1,299 each. However, the good news is we may be getting a cheaper laptop from Apple in the next few months.

Counting in numbers, It has been ten years since Apple first released the MacBook Air and many believe a redesign is long overdue. Apple could launch a cheaper MacBook Air this year and it might arrive as soon as next month, according to speculation.

This comes from Min-Chi Kuo, an analyst from KGI Securities who has often been a solid source of Apple tips. Min-Chi Kuo is known for his accurate insights into technology firm’s future products.

The analyst said that a new 13-inch version of Apple’s thin laptop, MacBook Air, could be released in the second quarter of the year 2018, that is, April through to June, ahead of Apple’s keynote launch event in September.

Ming-Chi Kuo said in a note obtained by the MacRumors website on Saturday.

We expect Apple to roll out the new MacBook Air with a lower price tag in 2Q18. We forecast total shipments of MacBook models will grow 10-15 percent year-on-year in 2018 (versus 0-5 percent year-on-year decline for the Notebook industry), up from 15.5-16 million units in 2017.

The base $999 model includes a 13.3-inch 1,440-by-900 resolution display, a 128GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and is powered by a dual core 1.8GHz Intel Core i5-5350U with Intel HD Graphics 6000 integrated GPU. This upgrade has been long over due as the processor is a 5th generation Intel chip first released back in early 2015.

What the new Apple laptop will be packing is still very unclear as the moment but bet Apple to deliver something awesome as usual.
