This is vague until you specify how they charge for the gigabyte. 1G for Kenya is 3G for Nigeria

NaijaTechGuy:
Data Subscription in different countries is usually different due to the economic conditions and operating costs of the Telecom Companies in each country. Airtel for example ,offers cheaper data services in its home country - India , than it does in Nigeria. In this post I collaborated with Dickson Otieno of Tech-Ish.com, a Kenyan Tech Blog. We'll be comparing the data plans in both countries and at the end we'll be calculating who spends more on data.

I believe this will let us know how much it costs citizens of both countries to access the internet and of course those who have enough data to waste on Twitter wars. If you are an active twitter user , you must have come across the #NigeriaVsKenya hashtag sometime. Well just in case you haven't brace yourself, it's about to get messy - Check a tweet with that hashtag -

Who spends more on data ?

For 1GB , Kenyans spend an average of 240-499 KES that's between N850- N1600 (for normal data plans)

Nigerians spend between N1000 - N1200 (KES 280 - KES 336 ) for 1GB and 1.5GB data plans

For 3GB - Kenyans spend between KES 499 - KES 999 that's between N1700 - N3400

Nigerians spend between N2000-N2500 .( KES- 560 - KES 700)

So It seems Kenyans actually spend more on data services. Nigerian Telcos are less expensive than their Kenyan counterparts. Of course , If there's an error in this post, feel free to let me know. Don't forget to tweet this and share as well.

you are absolutely correct!

Till you travel out of your country and actually earn and spend the currency of another country in their country, you will never understand how silly direct conversion of foreign currency like the OP did never works.

You didn’t add zuku network. Kenyans networked. Most of the data’s are unlimited and are way faster than Nigeria networks and most people don’t use the networks you listed in your post rather they all use zuku

Data is very very cheap in Kenya. I am in Kenya right now and I tell you I have not spent a dime on data. There is this free WiFi almost every where in the city. It is called mojawifi. Almost every institution/ company has got WiFi where you can access with a password. Data is almost free here compared to Nigeria! And yes with there seem to be more progressive. They are more bothered with real life problems not some scam kidnap stories

cheesy cheesy grin I no compare o....

Nigeria minimum house rent = 200 euros for 1 Year

Germany minimum house rent = 300 euro for 1 Month

Like I said, stop comparing agege bread and shoprite bread.

You will only get crappy face me and face you apartment in a village with 200 euros in current naija.
A decent flat in decent neighbourhood in lagos costs nothing less down 1000-1500 euros a year and

Places like vi or some part of abuja go as high as 5000 euros a year.

Even with the 300 euros you pay in Germany, you will still get some basic amenities like heaters, furniture etc that come with the house.
Can same be said about naija?

Thanks for visiting. Mojawifi is known as the people's internet, or commonly as moja spots. They are littered everywhere. In case youre in a location without Moja internet you simply go to this site to see where the closest spot is.

My friend who lived in Kenya says he enjoyed truly unlimited access- streaming video without an increase in blood pressure.

I am sure he was telling the truth. Why isn't that here?

Is broadband internet limited in Nigeria? That would be the opposite to Kenya where all broadband internet is unlimited hence why your friend mentioned that. Once you pay its done and you dont even need to ever stop streaming. You can stream videos for a whole month or even six months nonstop 24/7 at no additional costs. What matters is the speed, which determines the package cost.

It's a matter of numbers.

Telcos have to run equipment and divide the operating cost by the subscribers to get a per capita unit cost. So the more the subscriber base or population, the less the cost.
Re: Nigerians And Kenyans: Who Pays More For Data Services? by naijalander: 6:26am On Mar 24, 2018

20 euros is easily affordable for average people in better economy like Germany, but 9,000 naira is a luxury for average people in Nigeria. So the comparison is not accurate. Besides, the services you guys get is miles ahead of Nigerian counterpart. So don't compare, except you want to relocate here and use our crappy, relatively more expensive internet service
