How to fight procrastination using a simple technique

Most students in the university struggles with procrastination one way or the other, either procrastinating on their studies or other various activity. But worry no more, because we are about to explain to you an effective technique that helps eradicate procrastination called the Eisenhower matrix.
The Eisenhower Matrix, which is also known as the Urgent-Important Matrix, helps you prioritize your tasks based upon their urgency and importance. It also allows you to identify tasks that you should either delegate or leave undone. The Eisenhower Matrix is also known as the "Eisenhower Box" or "Eisenhower Decision Matrix".
Now before we fully dive into how to use the Eisenhower Matrix, Let us get to know the man behind the technique “David Dwight Eisenhower”.
Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969) was an American Army general and statesman who served as the 34th President of the United States from 1953 to 1961. During World War II, he was a five-star general in the United States Army and served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe.

He was also the first American President to be bound by the 22nd Amendment, which limits the number of times one can be elected to the office of President of the United States.
During his time in the army, Eisenhower was faced with many tough decisions concerning the tasks he had to focus on every day. This led him to invent a principle that helps us prioritize our tasks by urgency and importance.
"What is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important." -Dwight Eisenhower
Eisenhower had an incredible ability to sustain his productivity not just for weeks or months, but for decades. And for that reason, it is no surprise that his methods for time management, task management, and productivity have been studied by many people.
His most famous productivity strategy is known as the Eisenhower Box and it’s a simple decision-making tool that you can use right now. Let's talk about how to be more productive and how Eisenhower's strategy works.
How to use The Eisenhower Matrix.
The Eisenhower Matrix is divided into four quadrants as seen in the picture above each quadrant will contain a specific task on how urgent and important they are.
As you begin to use the system, you can start to be more predictive with your thinking around tasks to take a longer term view.
1. Important/Urgent quadrants are done immediately and personally
2. Important/Not Urgent quadrants get an end date and are done personally
3. Unimportant/Urgent quadrants are delegated
4. Unimportant/Not Urgent quadrants are dropped
The main point of this matrix is differentiating between urgent and important. Urgent tasks require immediate attention; important tasks contribute to long-term goals.

Now What Is “Important” and “Urgent” activity?
• Important tasks are things that contribute to our long-term mission, values, and goals. Sometimes important tasks are also urgent, but typically they're not. When we focus on important activities we operate in a responsive mode, which helps us remain calm, rational, and open to new opportunities.
• Urgent means that a task requires immediate attention. These are the to-do's that shout "Now!" Urgent tasks put us in a reactive mode, one marked by a defensive, negative, hurried, and narrowly-focused mindset.
Quadrant 1: The Do Now Quadrant
You want to get these tasks done as soon as possible. This quadrant contains tasks that are both urgent and important. These are "do first" tasks because they are critical for your life or career in some way and need to be finished right away.
These are the tasks that need to be done in order to avoid negative consequences. It is important to be able to manage the tasks that are in quadrant 1.
If you have a lot of urgent and important activities, identify which of these you could have foreseen, and think about how you could schedule similar activities ahead of time, so that they don't become urgent.

The time you spend sorting tasks will have been better put to solving one of them. Tell me what is important and urgent next time you're stuck on 3rd mainland bridge.
