The Commissioner for Housing, Enugu State, Barr. Peter Okonkwo has described Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as a "legacy governor", who has left an indelible mark in the state through his administration's people-oriented programmes that have impacted the lives of the people of the state positively.

Barr. Okonkwo, who is also the elder brother to Nollywood actor, Kenneth Okonkwo and a former Governorship Aspirant, said that Gov. Ugwuanyi is "a gift to Enugu State", adding that in spite of the dwindling price of oil and the nation's economic challenges, the governor has taken "legacy acts" that stand him out as a "legacy governor".

Speaking during a civic reception in his honour organized by Nsukka Town Graduates' Association in collaboration with Info Outreach Center for Research and Public Education, Barr. Okonkwo disclosed that the honour done him was possible because of the recognition accorded him by the governor to serve the state.

Other sons and daughters of Nsukka Town honoured at the event were the Director-General of Gburugburu Movement Nsukka LGA, Senator Fidelis Okoro; the former Commissioner for Education in the old Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Grace Obayi; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Compliance, Chief Mrs. Vivienne Eze and the Spiritual Director/Founder of Oku n'ere ere Adoration Ministry, Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Obayi.

Barr. Okonkwo stated that Gov. Ugwuanyi pays workers' salaries on 23rd of every month and has improved on the healthcare delivery as well as executed numerous massive road projects across the length and breadth of the state, "including the Opi-Nsukka dual carriageway that is outstanding in the entire South East and South South geo-political zones".

"This is a legacy act of a legacy governor. He has done very well and should be asked to continue in 2019", he declared.

Earlier in his address, the President-General of the association, High Chief Dr. Matthias Agboeze, while appreciating Governor Ugwuanyi for his presence at the event and giant development strides in the state, explained that the essence of the occasion was to honour Barr. Okonkwo as "a young hardworking man with enviable antecedents" and to express gratitude to the governor for "discovering these and making him a commissioner under his administration".

Dr. Agboeze, on behalf of the people of Nsukka Town thanked the governor "for the several developmental projects executed in Nsukka and appointing many of our sons and daughters into enviable positions within a short period in office".

Endorsing the governor for second term, they said: "The Nsukka Town Graduates' Association fully identify with you and we join others to tell you that you need no campaign in Nsukka Town, come 2019".

Gov. Ugwuanyi, who congratulated the celebrants for the "worthy" honour, promised to provide more dividends of democracy across the state in keeping with his campaign promises.

The man ugwuanyi has impacted Enugu state positively no doubt about that with the limited resources he has, he make sure that every civil servants are paid, no salary arrears even at the time other state was busy crying running to Abuja for money he never complain he has also make sure that Enugu still remain the most peaceful state in Nigeria though I commend him for following the footstep of his predecessor Suliven.
