FIFA has appointed former Golden Eaglets doctor, Dr Ayodeji Olarinoye, as a Doping Control Officer (DCO). Ayodeji, who is a professional member of the American College of Sports Medicine and British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine, is now Nigeria’s first FIFA doping control officer. He joins the network of FIFA medical officers charged with the responsibility of ensuring safe and healthy participation in football after attending several FIFA anti-doping training and has since been involved with doping controls around the world. Olarinoye is the son of Steve Olarinoye, former Head of International Department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in the 1990s’. Known for his drive and industry, it would be recalled that Olarinoye was honoured in 2015 by the Nigeria Medical Association for his dedication to duty and special interest in the field of sports medicine.
