I have gone through many threads here in the auto section of nairaland and I have been able to draw this conclusion; that any reasonable and sensible car buyer would prefer to patronize people like GazzuzzAutos or DelTel, just to mention those I think that go a long way to get all the necessary details about a car they intend to sell to the public.

They will show you pics of the car when purchased abroad, repairs done if any, gazzuzzAutos especially incudes vin report/Carfax details and uploads all necessary pics to market the car properly, while not hiding anything. To me this is maturity and professional to the mind and attracts buyers faster because of full disclosure.

That is why people like GazzuzzAutos, DelTel have been able to build respect and integrity in doing business here, don't let greed be your motivating factor. I always love going through their car sale threads cos everything you need to know about the vehicle is displayed, so why wouldn't you get buyers/customers faster.

A buyer who wants to own a car and has to search would find it easier if vin report/Carfax details are uploaded together with before/after purchase pics and any repairs made if salvaged. Please car dealers learn to emulate and integrate with this new trend here in Nairaland.

I have been impressed and more informed by the able and great work being done by the following persons however little some of their contribution might be thanks to;

obekediamondfuto; timifakay; diportivo; LeJeun3; Erico2k2; Cosplay; Ipfreely; Dbkk; EgunMogaji; nurey; chukel; kingreign; Mayor2013; banky3w; princetom1; thebigkendo; honmusa; computerglobal; aieromon; pinnket; Explorers; Gravatar; GAZZUZZ; please if I missed your name no vex....

Edited to reflect current situation..

Some of the monikers you've mentioned do put up photos and VIN information on their adverts, some do not. I agree with this perspective to an extent and I believe that it could be refined to arrive at a minimum acceptable level of information required on all adverts in this section.

It should be required, more importantly for Tokunbo vehicles but could also apply to Nigerian used vehicles, to have, at a minimum,
- Clear photos of the vehicle being offered for sale.

Exterior : Front, Rear, both sides, Engine bay, Trunk.

Interior : Dash displaying Mileage and other dash information. Engine turned on to display warning lights.
Front driver and passenger compartment, and Rear passenger compartments.

Along with photos of any other features of note including dents or gashes, or special features like engine or body modifications, etc.

- Photo of the VIN stamp of the vehicle taken in such a way that it proves that it indeed belongs to the vehicle being advertised for sale. Close enough for the digits to be visible, but far enough to incorporate other elements of the vehicle body.

A brief summary of the vehicle history mentioning significant findings.

Accidented but repaired, accidented but not Salvaged. FLOODED, etc. Purchased from copart auction, etc. At this stage photos detailing the condition would definitely be an added advantage but as long as the VIN stamp photo is provided and the above mentioned summary is available, the photos are not an absolute requirement.

No one is against any parties selling any vehicles in this section, it just needs to be done properly to enable interested parties make informed decisions.

Vehicle or automobile price. It does not have to be a fixed figure. But an approximate figure should be required. Interested parties should not have to make phone calls to find out initial prices of advertised merchandise.

Vehicle location and Contact information.

The above may seem like a lot of work, but 10 minutes with a camera would get those photos and the rest of the mentioned features.

My position.

I hope this thread metamorphose into a law or policy here. It will definitely separate the men from the boys. Dealers are supposed to be the light on customers' pathway to getting the desired.

The enforcement will be in the hands of the moderators by simply removing non-compliant adverts.
Enough is enough!

Good measure suggested here. I also hope that this thread can be fixed to the top of the auto section so that those who want to sell or buy can know what is required.

I had to edit this thread to reflect recent events, where I innocently mentioned certain monikers as being supposedly transparent, I have now withdrawn the references.

My apologies for the mistake.

Oga Gazzuzz when is the NL VIN Police recruitment

I think some people go like join o. grin grin grin

On the issue at hand. It's a pity most auto dealers will just want to transfer a generational curse to an innocent individual in the guise of selling a car. After been frustrated with one NL dealer based in PH I settled for a 2008 Toyota Camry from another offline deal that caused trouble in my life in same PH.

Just like everything else, I believe it's time people start building their businesses on the foundation of trust. Reveal all necessary information about the car being advertised so a would be buyer can make a good choice and plan ahead. It's not just about the money you know.

Let me be going to start to be coming and transmission commission jare.

i am a lover of due diligence and proper conducts but it goes beyond that , setting policies is a totally different ball game from implementation, i post vehicles for sale but Nairaland doesnt give me that chance to differentiate my brand by limiting my picture post to just four....front view, back view, and interiors.....in order to display these things as expected. For due diligence on the car dealers part to be practised it needs to go along with an enabling platform, one or two fields to include such details that earns brands like mine more trust and credibility.

What are you on about?

There's no limit to how many photographs of your vehicle You can post.

The point is to include the necessary details, once the barest minimum acceptable standard has been met, you're at liberty to post as many photos as you wish.

For those of us following recent events these past few days, would have observed that the fight to sanitize the autos section and to ensure transparency is the order of the day, will notice the collaboration of certain car dealers and the powers that be to either HIDE, REMOVE, DELETE, CLOSE OR LOCK threads which would have hiterto provided buyers with the necessary information, facts and evidences to learn from and be able to identify fraudulent dealers to avoid.

So it is my belief that the campaign and fight has to be taken to the next level. I will do my best to support and remain committed to this great and noble course.

Have you been driven by commentators on your SEX thread in the ROMANCE section?

If you're so frustrated that the support you sort for backfired, there is no medication for your sorrows to give you here.

I'd suggest you see a shrink as a matter of urgency cos I'm not the cause of your depression.
