Anambra State has announced that a bunker used by pro-Biafran secessionist leader Chukwuemeka Ojukwu during the civil war in the 1960s will be turned into a tourist site.

Caves and a waterfalls in the state would also be turned into major tourist sites.

“These tourist centres will receive immediate attention with the construction of access roads to them as well as concrete footpaths that will lead into the bowels of the caves to make them easily accessible,” a spokesman for state governor Willie Obiano said.

The move is seen as an attempt to boost employment and income in a region where there is much poverty.
Late Ojukwu declared the formation of the breakaway state of Biafra in 1967, triggering a civil war in which more than one million people died. He remains popular among many people in the south-east, who complain of economic and political marginalisation.

If this is true that's an AWESOME idea. We need more of this.

I think Nigeria also needs to bring history back into school curriculum. Let all the top professors in that field pool together all the credible information they have until a CORRECT account of Nigeria's complete history is compiled- then taught in schools. Its the only way we can heal old wounds as a country and inspire the youth. When students read about 29 year old Heads Of State (though they didn't perform well), maybe some kid, somewhere will be inspired to do something better. The causes of the civil war should be explained in detail and the Biafran flag shouldn't be banned either. Its a dark period in Nigeria's history but its not a time we want to return to. The flag should stand to remind people of everything that went wrong that had to lead to a civil war. The Confederate flag isn't banned for the same reason in the United States.
