This Android OS really consumes data on my phone. At times it consumes more than every other app on my phone even the ones I use frequently. Please what could be the reason, and is there anyway to at least reduce the data consumption, cause I don't think it can be stopped. Any suggestions please? Thanks.

I do notice, based on time frame and what I was actually doing on my phone. The data goes down really fast. Most of my downloads are on UC browser, the Android OS keeps draining data in the background, even more than apps that requires data and that I open

I don't know the real solution but you can download a speed meter like "internet speed meter" to constantly monitor your data rate anytime you browse. You can switch off your data when you observe high data consumption without "real" usage.

Will whatever was consuming the data not resume once data is switched back on? I got 'datally' from playstore when I went for the AVG. It seems to be able to block the Android OS from accessing data. But with a warning that phone may misbehave

well the brand matters cos they are the ones that build the os that will be compatible for their phone(s) .. I was suspecting it would be xaomi or its likes.. , there is a thread for your phone brand in this phone section, I've not really laid my hands on xaomi so I can't tell you where to go.. Bring this issue up on that thread so they will Direct you on what to do.. Maybe it's something in your settings, or maybe from the os..

Disable background data of apps not frequently used. Whatsapp and Messenger may not be data may not be disabled. It's what I've done so I only shared my piece of working advice.
