Another good point you left out is the entry requirements of polytechnics. minimum of 4 credits as against Universities' 5 credits.
Laspotech will never accept 4 credit

All The seven (7) reasons listed are baseless and non could hold water at all. Go and check records of professional examinations like ICAN, CIBN and so on, you will discover that HND holders passes these examinations more than the degree holders. Please carry out a research and you will confirm this.
Take it or leave it. HND+ICAN+PGD+anything without first degree is still an issue. Those who wear the shoe, know were it pinches. Honestly, the first degree is over rated in Nigeria. Degree in just anything makes the difference.

This Article is baseless and written out of personal assumption. Am a proud Poly Graduate degree in Nigeria is worthless without self development in terms of professional courses. I have being opportuned to interview some University graduates in my field and all they know is the theoretical aspect, but once it comes to the practical aspect they all fumble.

dont mind him. I passed thru the university (Bsc, Msc and ongoing PhD) and I presently lecture in a polytechnic. Frankly, going by contents of academic curriculum, the polytechnics have richer content. I honestly can not find any equitable reason for the discrimination, other than the fact that the government made it so, both by policy formulation, interpretation and execution.
It is true that lots of poly lecturers are in their comfort zone hence they have no zeal to develop themselves via research cos they do not really need it beyond a certain level. This is also the fault of govt policy as mapped out in the polytechnics act.
But let the policy change. Let deserving polytechnics get converted to universities and u will see how these indolent lecturers will seat up and develop themselves once their comfort zone is threatened. They will kick against it at first, but once the govt resist intimidation and arm twisting , everyone will fall in line.

I dream of the day my school will get converted to a university

Thank you Sir.
Let's encourage the poly.

My opinion is this, graduates production doesn't necessarily constitute the school you graduated from. But from an angle it does if u have a sound academic advisor and lecturers with a good academic degrees. Howbeit, the disparity between HND and BSC is as old as the problem of Nigeria ethnicity. Personal research and studies has a long way to enhance one's capabilities and innovation. However, self motivation is needed. U can't compare YALE university graduate with OAU not on the basic of the fact that the formal is more sound academically than the later but due to the level of exposure and high level of qualified academians.in conclusion, never allow anyone make u inferior do u your own and enjoy your existence. *All men are born, but some are greater than the other*

LACK OF RESEARCH
Most polytechnics in Nigeria still uses 19th century method of teaching to teach their student. For example,a mechanical engineering student that uses 1970 model Peugeot for their practical instead of modern cars. How will they be able to handle a modern vehicle after graduation.
Most of these poly students are not exposed to research.

I must confessed that you r not in tune with the current reality..I am a polytechnic graduate of elect- elect engineering , and I am currently d HOD of automotive department in an international vocational institution.. University graduates couldn't stand me during d interview which was conducted by professionals from one of d best university in united state...My current salary is more than what a professor earn in Nigerian university..I have been rejecting job offers..And also let me enlighten you, university education now in Nigeria is backward. I have work with a lot of university graduates, I know what I am saying.I once worked with Peugeot automobile n a university mechanical engineering graduate was working with me, I directed him to get a certain tool in a mechanical tool box for practical purpose, d guy was not able to identify d tool from d box..I was embarrassed that day.
blogbuilder, you see what I'm saying? you can't just generalize like that even though some of the points are applicable to most. You can't just rubbish polytechnic products as if university products are all good

I too have a biased mind towards you and your ilk, especially when you write in this flawed and grandiloquent way. Tell me, did you not learn basic grammar in secondary school before going to the university?

I wish you can see how l am sympathizing with you. Look at your presentation. Remove that which is in your eyes first please. Thanks
