WHERE DID WE GO WRONG? SOS LETTER TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

We the entire students admitted into the Department of Psychology, Distance Learning Program of the University of Ibadan for the 2009/2010 have decided to reach you through this unconventional means having exhausted all avenue to have our grievances addressed by both the Department, and the Distance Learning authority. It's disheartening enough that we are still without our results in 2018 when we are supposed to have graduated in 2014/2015 academic session. As it were today, the whole essence of enrolling in the program for many of us is defeated. Those who needed the certificate to seek employment are stranded while those who desire to pursue higher degrees are frustrated! What is our offence sir? Some of us thought the Distance Learning program would be a shorter route to acquiring a degree, believing that our calender would be sacrosanct! For goodness sake we didn't enrol for a degree in medicine yet have spent 10 years on a 5 year program! We wrote our last paper in July 2015; three years after we are still without our results! What is happening? We may not attract the necessary attention because we aren't consider regular students. But we paid school fees and fulfilled the necessary requirements for graduation! We guess we are being taken for a ride because we can't organise ourselves for a protest. Sir, rather than play with people's lives why don't you consider closing down the Distance Learning Program. At least that would save prospective students from the wickedness and incompetence of a Department of Psychology.

As far as I know, the issue is with the Dept of Psychology. About 9% of students in the affected sets were cleared and and listed in the graduating list for Nov. 2017. The remaining students have exhausted all means to get them cleared.

We still have a long way to go as a nation.
Anyway, I plan to study Computer science in Noun, if this same thing happens, I wouldn't bother, I seek education not school, knowledge not certification.

I will not be surprised if the VC came out to say, theirs nothing like distance learning program in his school.
Then he will said, they haved closed the program of distance learning in all the apartment about 5 years ago.
And he will conclude by saying, am not aware some people are still paying school fees for these program all this while.

This people are the main architect of corruption in this country, and u will never see our incompetent EFCC going after them,

You do not write petition and abuse the sensibility of people in authority to seek redress to your grievance.

Also your submission is not well stated.

DLC I’m aware has their director and he’s the one at the helm of the affairs there, because I attended UI too and their director is the one who makes rules and regulations, adjusts their calendar and every every

I share your pain and I can vividly get what you are saying...how painful it can be...
This act is synonymous with that department it is thier way of handling DL which need to be checked by the appropriate quarter.
but firstly DL mode is not a short route to a degree in the university of ibadan.more so there is no desparity in UI certificate.
Then when u are laying a grievance kindly still exhibit the manner of a cultured UI trained graduate in the content of your write up.
I will forward your write up to as many quarters as I can in the university.
I am one of the pioneer student of Political science department DL mode University of Ibadan.

Something is fundamentally wrong with dls ui depth of psychology.

Recently, infact, last final year exams of those that graduated, some students were not properly graded that the result of a particular course had to be retrieves back from the school portal after posting it earlier.

This does not speak well of an ace institution like UI

Don't say that it is a scam. I will advise you guys to send a delegate to meet a particular woman who's a prof and the oldest staff in the department. I can't recall her name at the moment. She's a mother and considerate. I wish i could remember her name. Any way, just ask within the department. Best of luck
