Businessman Attacks Keyamo In Court Over Buhari’s Appointment by UnknownT: 9:50pm On Apr 21, 2018
A businessman in Anambra State, Bobby Uzochukwu, on Friday attacked Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, on the premises of the Anambra State Federal High Court, Awka, accusing him of being a sellout by accepting to serve as the spokesperson for President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation in the 2019 general elections.

The SAN was recently appointed the Director of Strategic Communications for Buhari’s 2019 presidential campaigns.

Keyamo, who was the counsel for a defendant in a suit on the August 6 killings at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State, was addressing the press at the court complex when the businessman verbally attacked him, calling him unprintable names.

The situation abruptly ended his interview with journalists as he entered his car and left.

Still fuming, Uzochukwu said he would have done worst things if the SAN had stayed back.

He said, “I know Keyamo. He’s my friend. I was surprised when I heard that he accepted to serve Buhari. This is a betrayal of the highest order. We thought Keyamo would replace the late Gani Fawehinmi; but see what he has done, consenting to serve somebody who has no interest of the people at heart.
“I would have done more things to him this afternoon, but as you can see, he ran away.”

Meanwhile, the Ozubulu case had been transferred from the Nnewi High Court to the Awka High Court for security reasons.

Testifying on Friday, a witness, Nkwado Onyeka, told the court that the suspects in the Ozubulu church killings had before the incident demanded the sum of $1m from the Ozubulu people in South Africa for them to stop the killings in the community.

Onyeka, a former President of the Ozubulu Development Union in South Africa, said the demand was the genesis of all the troubles in the community.

He said the gang, under the leadership of one Chinedu Akpunonu, killed his (Onyeka) wife and six other prominent Ozubulu persons living in South Africa.

He said, “After the burial of my wife, another prominent son of Ozubulu, Nnoso Ikedinobi, was murdered; another person, Udoamaka, was murdered, and by May 2016, Ozubulu people had lost six persons in South Africa, and Afam and Dozila claimed responsibility.”
He added that Afam and Dozila also owned up to the killings of worshippers in Ozubulu. During cross-examination by Keyamo, who was the counsel for Akpunonu, the witness said he hadn’t reported the alleged murder cases to security agencies.

The presiding judge, Justice F. I. Aniukwu, adjourned the matter to May 4, 11 and 25 respectively for the continuation of the hearing.

Posterity will never be fair to people like Keyamo who sold their conscience.
