Why should you Ban mobile phones and use a P.O.S? What's the Difference?

When a phone rings, it generates some sort of static electricity which is dangerous in a sensitive place filled with gas fumes like a filling station. A fire could easily start in such a situation. If you put fuel gas inside a small enclosure, and call a phone which is also locked in that enclosure, there'd be an explosion once the phone rings. It was tested on MythBusters and it was confirmed dangerous.

Even opening and closing doors while you're buying fuel is dangerous, because the door gaps generate small static which could possibly lead to a fire.

Static electricity is what causes fire at filling stations and not cellphones. The POS can actually be seen as a cellphone that is not used for terminating calls.

Watch myth busters that experimenting on starting fire with cellphone

I never said cellphones caused fires. The static electricity is generated when a phone rings or vibrates. This is why it's not advisable to fuel your generator while using your phone.

Please don't say it's a myth. When a tanker fell a few years ago and burned, before I ever saw the mythbuster episode, a survivor was reported in the papers as saying that as they were scooping fuel, the last thing he heard was a Nokia ring tone.

Don't forget that these things aren't supposed to happen 100% of the time, there's simply a very high risk factor.

Just saw the video. Thst wasn't the actual video I watched. They had the Nokia in a glass box filled with gas fumes outdoors and called it. Next thing, box exploded.

I'm not sure about the details of a POS, but remember you pay before they start to use the pump where a POS is available. At least in Nigeria.

Do you know the number of mobile devices that are on at filling stations at any point in time.? If they are responsible for this, all filling stations over the world will be bonfire

I just put up one video. Car tracking devices are just like gsm phones too. It will also imply putting off tracking devices at filling stations.

I don't know how many molecules of the volatile pms is available in an average filling station when compared to a natural gas metering station which I've been to severally with my phones.

I think it's just a myth. As for the enclosed phone in a bottle filled with gas. It is possible, the vessel is under pressure and thus ignition can take place unlike your filling station which is an open space.
