The lawmaker representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Senator Andrew Uchendu, has congratulated the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the successful congresses which took place on Saturday across the 319 wards in the state.

Senator Uchendu in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, said he is satisfied with the outcome of the hitch-free exercise, particularly in the senatorial district which he represents.

"Credible reports from each ward in Rivers East Senatorial District and other parts of the state as well, show that the elections of APC ward officers were carried out in a peaceful, transparent and democratic manner, and in strict adherence to our party's constitution, under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). I therefore congratulate our great party for this remarkable feat.

"I call on all political gladiators in the party to accept the end result of the smooth political process in the spirit of sportsmanship. However, those who were victorious at the election should be magnanimous enough to extend a hand of fellowship to their fellow contestants. Let us place the overall interest of the party above our personal ambitions.

"The highly organised elections which took place simultaneously in all the wards, is a clear testament to the fact that Rivers APC is fully prepared to take over all elective offices in the state, come 2019," he said.

The representative of Rivers East Senatorial District thanked party faithfuls, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), INEC and journalists, for contributing their own quota to the overall success of the ward congresses.
