Simple Guide – Time Management Using “the Pomodoro Technique by Nobody: 10:23am On May 11, 2018
It’s a proven fact that the human brain loses focus after being engaged for a long time thereby reducing performance. Here in schoolvibesng, we are here with this exciting post to help you make use of this fact to increase performance using the Pomodoro technique.
Now, What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s.The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. These intervals are named pomodoros, the plural in English of the Italian word pomodoro (tomato), after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student.
How Can The Pomodoro Technique Help Me?
• It helps to break tasks down into shorter, highly focused work sessions which helps you to manage your time more effectively, and makes large projects seem less overwhelming or long study sessions seem less tiring.
• It encourages you to minimize distractions, while discouraging multitasking and procrastination
• The frequent short breaks gives your mind a chance to assimilate information, you will have more opportunities for those “moment of enlightenment” when ideas seem to come together.
• It helps get more things done because you’ll have a sense of urgency.
• Avoid the perfectionist mindset by overly “fine-tuning” a project.
• Build higher levels of willpower and concentration
The technique is very simple and also very effective. When you use this technique you’ll see a dramatic improvement in your productivity and ability to get things done.
The Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro Technique is a 5 step process, and they are:
1. Plan – Choose your task and total time to work on it. Set a timer to 25 minutes
2. Focus – Try to cut off every distraction from your phone or any external source.
3. Start – Begin your work on the particular task chosen and do it for 25minutes, avoid all the urges to multi task.
4. Short breaks – After the 25 minutes of deep work and concentration, now take a short break for 5 minutes which you can use to do anything.
5. Repeat – Start another Pomodoro.
