Car batteries do not just go bad. The battery I am presently using is 4 years old and counting.

The Alternator may be faulty.

If you in Lagos, contact Gazzuzz.

so many things could be wrong.... this is best diagnosed by a pro.. could be your battery has expired or is so drained that it cannot hold charge or your alternator/generator is faulty and cannot generate sufficient charge or u have a parasitic drain somewhere.

u changed the battery right? hope it's original and not refurbished?
how do u know the alternator works perfectly? did u check it urself?
if u remove the battery terminals @ night and start in the morning does the battery crank the engine well?

if it's a parasitic drain then u might need a pro to handle esp if u r not DIY compliant

With all due respect, I have had to make edits to your quote.

I just wanted to make the point that in some climes people are used to batteries lasting as long as 10 years, as well as shameless self-promotion.

And by the way, I can solve any case of battery discharging overnight. I just solved one. A Lexus ES330 with a drain of 100ma that drains overnight. Vehicle bought brand new tokunbo. Seller told buyer that the battery is bad, so buyer sent funds to buy a new battery. Owner bought another battery after it drained the first time. The second time it happened, buyer knew it was not a battery issue. The drain has now been reduced to 10ma after painstaking detective work. But I went a step further...I detected and fixed a number of shoddy electrical repair work involving the airbag circuits (airbags would not deploy in the event of an accident) as well as wrong connections that would cause the dashboard lights to go off if the headlamps were turned on.

A whole lot of things could be the problem

1. Bad battery. I know you've bought another one, but there are so many fake batteries.

2. A component is running your battery down. Check if all lights are of after switching off your car
Your dash clock, radio, faulty connections. Check the lights in your trunk.

3. Get a technician. Or go to a standard autoshop around you

You got a parasitic load problem.

Diagnosing it, requires someone that's patient enough.

You also have to be patient when its being diagnosed.

+1 to others here, if you got a digital meter, and know your way through diagnosing short circuitry problems, that would be a plus for you ,and saves you some bucks.

Mr AutoElectNG

I have come across multiple threads laced with efforts by you at, in your words, 'shameless self-promotion'.

While there indeed is nothing untoward with tooting one's own horn, doing so while denigrating or casting aspersions on others' efforts, overtly or subliminally, is rather ungentlemanly.

In addition, the proof of pudding is often in the eating. Perhaps you should let your work speak for itself.

Further, whatever personal grouses you may hold with any members should stay that way: personal.

If, on the other hand, you have a professional bone to pick, you should do the responsible thing and state your issues clearly.

Uboma,

I have no grouses.

Fellow in question left specific instructions in the above thread.

Thank you.

Nothing personal.

The professional issue is clearly stated here https://www.nairaland.com/4568471/please-2010-corolla-p0500-issue.

I was trained to be civil no matter the level of provocation. I have tried to keep things that way.

Yes, I did come across that thread as well.

Your professional grouse concerns his, in your opinion, apparently hasty and/or premature transmission change solution to the fault mentioned in that thread?

Your professional grouse concerns his, in your opinion, apparently hasty and/or premature transmission change solution to the fault mentioned in that thread?

Did you see when I made a recommendation?

Did you see when I said the likelihood of the issue being remedied free of charge is low?

Did you see the professional response to my recommendation?

Was the remedy provided free of charge in the end?

If no, what was the aim of that retort?

Given the expressly stated feelings of the OP, did the expenses incurred result in a resolution of his crises?

The thread speaks for itself.

Apparently I did wrong to recognize him by recommending him.

I consulted Toyota documentation and technician only repair resources and found the solution to guys problem.

So I will be guided by his expressly stated intentions.

I have nothing more to say on the issue.

The above stated points are distinctly personal, not professional, the part in bold, specifically.

If his response to a good natured and well meaning recommendation from you was, in your opinion, uncouth or downright rude, the professional path would be either to state your position, in terms devoid of any bias, or simply to ignore the apparent provocation, like you mentioned you were trained to.

Doing otherwise takes the uncouth coloration from him and his response, to you and your response.

But seizing on an issue on a completely unrelated thread to take subliminal jabs at a contemporary really is not professional. It is personal.

You do not need to respond, as you have stated you do not intend to.

Perhaps the better path, considering the acrimony with that specific contemporary, would be to make your points and proffer your solutions, devoid of any references to him, positive or negative.

That would be the professional thing to do.

Noted with thanks.

I shouldn't have quoted that post.

He gave a restraining order and I wanted to be guided by it.

I should have made my point without quoting the post.

I had no intentions whatsoever of denigrating him.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

That was why I deleted his name so I do not appear to be contravening his restraining order...and since it is possible to quote and modify...I did but publicly acknowledged that the original author had not been been quoted word for word.

Any other meanings ascribed to the above was not intended.

Ultimately I believe the intention of most in this section is to proffer solutions to raised conundrums, and eliminate dangerous ideas and practices.

Your efforts are commendable in that regard.
