As we lief desire to live ev'rmore
That I thru my lines earns enduring fame
The maker by his sculpt when with age hoar
While, by the yellow pages the scribe last
So must men with their sons, for thine own name
Even as swithe-footed time hasted past

That when age come by, he may 'live his youth
And recount his tale to the worlds hearing
Through his living image to proof in sooth
Which earth reapeth from him from past sowing

If death be sudden, like thieves at night do
And by time's decree, the end nears the man
As the waves do the beach;to end his span
Still, thou live on in him, and he in you.
