For you to still want to hold on to the 774 LGAs, i'm guessing you're a northerner.

And besides, there's no restructuring that will be done without giving people a choice as to which region state they want to belong to. Right now, we have a situation where people were told by the military (and a few scheming politicians) which region/state they should be in. Freedom to choose means just that...freedom to choose!
no no no. the 774 lga should be scraped pls. i will never suggest holding on to them. am just saying the elected chairmen should transition to 774 regional assembly legislators.

The 36 states cannot be the federating units of Nigeria, the 36 of them were created by the military. If it is agreed that there will be 3 Regions in the North and South, they must be decided by referendum. The reason for this is that the Yorubas of Lead a might want to join their kit and kin in the South, the Igbo speaking people in Delta and Rivers state might prefare to join their kin in the Igbo Region as well as the Igbos of Benue. The Ijaws of Ondo might prefare to be in the Niger Delta Region and so on and so forth.

However, more important than all this is that if there are to be autonomous Regions, the constitution has to be changed. For the constitution to be changed, a 2 thirds majority vote is needed in the national assembly

With core North(NW&NE) controlling about 40% of the National Assembly, and have vowed not to allow restructuring, how will restructuring ever be achieved?

Restructuring is waste of time in Nigeria, the core North are against it.
I feel u bro. i only suggested that the 36 states should be federating units to the regions, while the 6 regions should be federating units to the center. the 774 lga should be scraped. The north will fall in line if the south wills the big stick of southern unity and open, official revolt

The states are what should be scrapped, each Region will crate the number of local govt it can sustain

if u do it like that, how do u accomodate the current number of senators and reps? Remember they are the ones to amend the constitution. Do u think they would scrap themselves?
