Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday announced plans by the State to attain 24-hour power supply for entrepreneurs and other residents of the state.
The Governor stated that the feat would be achieved between now and 2022 through the generation of 3000 megawatts of electricity.
This will be a big boost to entrepreneurship in Lagos state as several small and micro scale enterprises have been finding it difficult to operate successfully because of inadequate electricity supply from the national grid.
Epileptic power supply is one of the major reasons why Nigeria is currently ranked 145th overall out of 190 countries on the Ease of Doing Business by the World Bank in 2018.
Although Nigeria moved up marginally by 3.85% points over its DB record of 2017, it recorded a miserable ranking of 172nd position on “Getting Electricity” and the World Bank report indicated that Nigeria is not implementing enough reforms in the area of providing electricity to make it easier for businesses to thrive.
