There'll be peace everywhere and people will believe in GOD. cool

If the devil repented wouldn't that make a mockery of all the predictions made in the Bible
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by goodguy(m): 10:50am On Jan 02, 2006
It definitely will. That's why the devil can not repent. His doom has been foretold several years back. cool
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by exu(m): 12:14pm On Jan 02, 2006
Of course goodguy, although I'm sure that you realise that the reason the Devil cannot repent is because (some would say smiley) he doesn't exist...
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by tenderson(m): 12:41pm On Jan 02, 2006
Its not gonna happen that the devil repents because his place of destruction has been constructed and modified....
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by goodguy(m): 12:49pm On Jan 02, 2006
@exu, the devil exists. He makes people do bad/negative things. smiley

@tenderson, you're very right cheesy

What is it's not the devil that causes people to do evil? What if it's their free will?

You want to start another argument here I guess.  cool

When the devil tempts you, you have a choice - either to resist or fall for it. That's freewill.
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by nicetohave(m): 2:52pm On Jan 02, 2006
Interestingly the operative word is "what if" but he wont......................the devil wont because his judgement has already been pronounced, if he repented i dont know what his fate will be because God has not said anything about "if" the devil repents so why should i have an opinion? what i do know is his fate has been settled................a lake of fire has been prepared for him, and all that live in rebellion to God, it was primarily prepared for him that is why he lures more people alongside with him
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by GentlBlunt(m): 8:02pm On Jan 02, 2006
If devil repents today, Many will still go to hell. Wickedness has its own origin, the same way the devil got his own wickedness. Very possible that devil can repent. Because God did many things he didnt plan will make a change.

He didnt create devil to be proudful inorder to turn against him.

He didnt create men so we can disobey him. Although he has a pre- plan B which is Christ dieing before we ate the apple.

Physical death on the cross will not have happened if "Righteousness can be gained through law"

God prepared the hell fire, Is he expecting anyone to go there, NO, not even the satan.

if the devil repented, i guess life will be less interesting... there wouldn't be anyone to blame again! grin grin

The fact of the matter is that devil can never repent.
he's destined for destruction.
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by GentlBlunt(m): 11:38pm On Jan 02, 2006
nicetohave, I believe you got something you want to tell me about God. So God, prepared hell before lucifer becomes devil? Just in case.
Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by nicetohave(m): 11:45pm On Jan 02, 2006
After Lucifer became the devil----the accuser of the brethren........remember lucifer himself was wrought in flames of fire, he was created with precious stones and as you know prcious stones shone brighter with fire, he thought to raise himself against God and it only makes sense to destroy him by that which made him proud, fire.yes the devil can't repent because his fate has been determined, the judgement of the lake of fire and that was after he thought to raise his himself above the throne of God.

Those who think that the repentance of the Devil will mean an end of wickedness and suffering are sadly deluded.

Let me tell you, as someone who has seen Hell with my own two korokoro eyes, I can tell you that there are many, many other capable demons waiting to take over.

There's the aptly named Vice-Devil, Assistant Devil, Lieutentant-Devil, Acting Devil, Devil's Right Hand Demon, Devil's Left Hand Demon, Demon In Charge of Torture, Demon In Charge of Stoking the Fires of Hell, in fact the list is endless... and they all pray that the Devil should repent one day, too!

@Ka na wa o! hmm. u saw hell with ur eyes and u still manage to get to nairaland to talk about it? and by the way, who told u devil has vice devil et al? those are human inventions.

you remind me of one old charlatan, evangelist dagunduro, who said he was the devil's second in command? Devil use fickle humans as second in command? of course it is a f**king lie. the bible said the devil doesnt sleep or go on vacation. the vice positions are for humans who r too weak to go on for ever. God/Jesus do not have vice to help out coz they can do i all.

Ka, next time u get to hell, I bet u should just stay there...

Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by donnie(m): 1:32pm On Jan 03, 2006
It is impossible for the devil to repent.

Repent from what? He has already been cast out. He has already been judged.

In fact, it is not his wish to repent since he is still filled with pride and rebellion against God for giving man the place (at the right hand of the father in heaven - that place of authority and power) which he had always coveted.

This is the reason he roams about trying to decieve men, turning them away from what is already theirs in christ so as to ensure their condemnation with him for eternity.

The sentence has already been passed on him.

He is doomed to the eternal lake of fire.

Have you forgotten all these people (if they really exist) are under the influence of the devil? Once the devil repents, all forms of evil will automatically be erased also.

I have read all your postings and replies, they are all in the same direction..."devil can never repent."...I wish you all to reflect on the https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-4360.0.html abuout Human Free Will and God's all knowing knowledge

All responces tends to agree that the devil is doomed from the onset, same way Esau was doomed from before birth, same way Judas Iscariot was doomed before Jesus ever stepped on planet earth.....then where does the idea of free will comes in?

Please correect me if I am wrong....

I believe strongly that there is a higher being or power that determines what happens and that we have no say in what we do or how we do them..or what happens to us or whatever.

My arguement is still open....

Funny you should mention that... I actually spoke to the devil today and I complained I was freezing where I was. He was quite touched by my discomfort, and offered me an all-expenses trip to Hell where it's warm and comfortable. So I'll be out there for a while, having a great time hobnobbing with the great and the good.

Anyone you want me to pass your regards on to?

I agree with you axeprince, but you know something, that higher power has just told me to inform you to jump in front of a moving train tomorrow or youre doomed for disobedience, you have to do it whether you like it or not, okay? so when we dont see you anymore on NL we know you have succumbed to fate, and predestination.

I'll announce burial arrangements on NL

sincerely,

I was on the thread who's html you put in this quote, and i posted my thoughts which i believe make it pretty clear how predestination and freewill can co-exist. in case you don't want to go on that for yourself, I'll cut and paste what i said, so all you wonderful people may enjoy it.
smiley cheesy grin grin cheesy smiley

thank you for taking this back to the original question of how predestination and freewill can co-exist.
I'm excited about replying to this... I actually vaguely understand it because God lots of time gives me wisdom.... So, How can predestination and freewill co-exist?

Simply because God created us.

Let me explain more. If i were to write a fictional story. So i created all the characters. I created and gave them their personality, how they think, feel, discover new things, their reactions, everything about them. Let's say that i had the power to give them souls and freewill, and i did. Now, I understand the characters so completely that i understand, i know how they will act in every single imaginable situation. I do not tell them to do it. I simply understand that they will.

This is God. He created us, he gave us everything, our personalities, how we think, feel, discover new things, everything. God understands us so completely that in every single situation, he knows how each individual soul he created would act.He, in no way, forces us to do them God simply understands us so well, that he knows what we will do . God knew, for instance, that if Chinua Achebe existed when he did, he would write the book "Things Fall Apart" and God knew, that if he wrote that book, eventually, my school would have it a requirement to read it. And God knew, that i would be in a class that had to read it, and that i would have to research about Nigeria to complete my school project.  God knew that i would type in, "Nigeria culture-religion" in google, click on a site that led me to this current one. and  God knew that it would inveterate me so much, that i would have to get an account and post my opinions. Now, I'm not saying that the reason God put Chinua Achebe on the earth at the time he did, was so i could post this. But you never know, only God knows.

This is how freewill and predestination can co-exist. God understands how we will act, so he puts us in certain places in certain times with certain people, because he knows how we will act. And he knows that the result of our life in this particular place/time/etc... will benefit his Kingdom, and his glory the most.
and yes, i know that after reading that you may ask, why God would create people who he know will end up going to Hell, and i will try to answer that the best i can, right now, so we don't have to go and create another thread that will get us nowhere .

No one can truly answer why God created people who would go to Hell. All you know, is that God is always just, but he is also merciful, all-knowing and loves us so much that he gave us Jesus, and above all, God is always right. So you must say that if it is true that God is just, merciful, all-knowing, loving, right, and it is also true that he created people who he knows will go to Hell, you must eventually conclued that either God has a reason, and that reason is just, merciful, loving, right, and good for us in the long term (all-knowing, God knows the future) or you must conclude that you yourself, as a human, with the limited knowledge capacity of a human, is right, and a God that is just, merciful, all-knowing, loving and always right, is wrong.

Hope that clears that up.

Re: What If The Devil Repents Today? by mapyellow(m): 12:50pm On Jan 04, 2006
Even if the devil repents it will not be acceptable to the almighty God, because God is holy and will always punish any offender. There is only one way that God can forgive - through JESUS CHRIST. When the devil looked for the way of salvation, he could not find it because there must be faith. Rge devi has none. Again the way of repentance is noy opened to demons. Its only to humans.

Do I make myself clear
