Now That Post Jamb Has Been Suspended, How Will Admission Be Conducted? by simplicit(m): 2:09pm On May 28, 2010
It was earlier said by JAMB registrar that post JAMB was a mistake that a long process to correct and that it will not be easy to stop post jamb so because of that post JAMB will be written this year, early this morning i read that the house of rep had ordered the suspension of post Jamb. But my question who will then offer admission to the student. the school or JAMB

why suspension? I pray it continues so that we know those who scored 280 through that back door. If putme is abolished, majority of the students that will be admitted will be raw not even half baked bread. the reps had better be wise now or never.

i think the next criteria for admission selection will be based on point system, most especially in unilag. and this i can tell you in my own opinion is not the best idea. its the student that will really suffer for this.

If you make inquiry you will find out that the lawmaker that sponsor this motion don't have any of his children in Nigeria institutions. The post ume has been the last hope for applicants from humble home who are hardworking. A recent survey in University of Benin show that examination malpractice has reduced drastically since the introduction of post ume. In fact, admission into University is becoming more difficult for those from rich family as they are usually screen out by post ume. That explain why many of the private universities are flourishing.

Post UTME is not bad, it has indeed served a great purpose in shaping the university entry system in Nigeria. As good as it may be, the system has been turned into money making venture by some universities. Candidates sometimes pay up to N5000.00 as post UTME fee, after which they will pay another money to obtain a scratched card that would enable them check the results. It has also been hijacked by the elites in recent times, these people pay to see that their children score good grades in the Post UTME exams, sometimes, they pay so that the names of their children would make the VCs list. I am speaking from experience. Our system is so corrupt that everything bad is possible in this country. Let JAMB decides who gets admitted through their results, they should also tighten up their examination policies.
