After months of speculation, Barcelona confirmed on Sunday that defender Samuel Umtiti has agreed on a new five-year contract with the club. The news will come as a terrific boost to manager Ernesto Valverde as he looks to build on his facet‘s domestic double win this season. The French international has been a revelation at the Camp Nou since joining the club type Lyon in 2016, although the presence of a release clause in his contract had led to reports of interest from Manchester United. Nevertheless, Barca fans can now rest easy, with the man from Yaoundé having agreed fresh terms that can see him prolong his stay in Catalonia through until 2023.
