What has really changed in device specs and price 2015-2018, i always get confused when a low-end device is sold 30k and above and we will be shouting "wao! Its so cheap". I could remember, Back then in 2015 i purchased the tecno camon C8 when it newly arrived market @the price of 24k. Now lets compare it to devices of 2017 & 18 ranging 30-35k.

Lets take 2017 Tecno spark K7 for comparison

DISPLAY
TECNO C8: 5.5 in, IPS ,720 x 1280p (267dpi)
TECNO K7: 5.5 in, TFT, 720 x 1280p(267dpi)

BATTERY
TECNO C8: 3000mah
TECNO K7: 3000mah

STORAGE
C8: 16GB rom
K7: 16GB rom

RAM
C8: 1GB ram
K7: 1GB ram

CAMERA
C8:13mp back camera and 5mp front camera
K7: 13mp back camera and 5mp front camera

SOC(system on chip)
C8: Mediatek MT6735
K7: MediaTek MT6580

CPU
C8: ARM Cortex-A53 @ 1.3ghz, quad-core(64bit)
K7: ARM Cortex-A7, 1.300ghz, quad-core(32bit)

GPU
C8: ARM Mali-T720 MP2
K7: ARM Mali-400 MP2

PRICE:
C8: 24K (2015)
K7: 35k (2018)
Conclusion
As of 2018, any 67×× system on chip device is not less 40k
Any device with cortex-53cpu and maliT720 Gpu will roughly be around 40k and above

NOTE:Am not a camera freak, my concerns are: CPU,GPU,RAM&BATTERY

Our economy has really changed( bad to worst).
We have already adapted to it.
We will continue to adapt.

But a look at the prices (after factoring the Exchange rate) in neighbouring West African countries shows something is definitely wrong in Nigeria.

I had a loan with the bank at 24%p.a in 2017 but today the the rate is 31% p.a. Who knows if I'll not be paying 50% before 2019?

You forgot that between 2015 and 2017, the value of the naira went down by over 100%. Put that into consideration and you'll find out that those device are actually cheaper than they were in 2015.

I think a lot of factors caused this. But most prominent is the economy. Exchange rate and all. Nonetheless I will say the phones are affordable too.
