EBONYI 2019 GUBER: PRETENDERS AND THE PEOPLES CANDIDATE.

The creation of Ebonyi State was received with high hopes,that the sufferings of Ebonyians was soon to be a thing of the past.But with the passage of time, this hope continued to dim as the desired amelioration was slow in coming. Their roads were still impassable while poverty still stalked the land. Their hospitals, Schools and State Capital were not worth their names as they were completely bereft of all the trappings of those institutions,just as her people remained objects of derision.

Responsible for the state of affairs, was no doubt, a poor understanding of the job of a leader,lack of vision and compassion. They was therefore a begging need for a new order. As a people who desired a change of story,Ebonyians made a decision in 2014,to go for a new and progressive order, to be anchored on a change agent, imbued with the foresight, creativity,vision, dynamism and capacity to create a prosperous Ebonyi State.

To achieve this, Ebonyians knew that emphasis was to be placed placed on the antecedents of the would be Governor,his love for the people and a capacity not only to dream big but to stay awake and translate same to reality. Hence,when INEC sounded it's beagle in 2014,Ebonyians had already made up their minds to move past sentimental politics,in preference for result oriented and progressive one,where clan, denomination and other mundane considerations would not matter when weighed against competence.

They were fully decided to rally round the candidate that best represented their hopes and aspirations,hence not ready to cut their nose through the wrong choice as such visage will not only spite their face but condemn them to eternally bemoan what might have been. That was one luxury, they were not prepared for.

In keeping with Rousseau 's position, that "the people can only be said to have willed something, when what they have willed proves capable of sustaining equity, freedom and the continued existence of the community", Ebonyians who are firm believers in equity and justice, threw their weight behind the candidacy of Engr David Nweze Umahi, who they saw as being the best candidate, with a credible pedigree, intelligence,connection, strength,passion for the State,the capacity and wherewithal to build a prosperous Ebonyi State, they could all be proud of.

The visible, tangible, monumental develop ment and the uncommon transformation that is evident in all the villages in Ebonyi State in just three years are proof that Ebonyians couldn't have made a better choice.

As we enter the election year, any one who seeks to govern Ebonyi State in 2019 on the pedestal of clan or any other reason whatsoever, is embarked on a wild goose chase and should be prepared for a summary defeat, as Ebonyians had demonstrated in 2015 a progressive attitude to the leadership selection process in the State and have gotten the additional incentive of witnessing the difference in the destiny of the State and her people as wrought by the man they casted their vote for.

The Governor Umahi message of hope is still good music that has continued to resonate in the ears of the good people of Ebonyi State and they cannot wait to give him another mandate to complete the transformation of the State to the envy and admiration of other States.
