The Permanent Job is within Abuja while the contract job is a the North-West state.

Dear Nairalanders, which would go for?......please I need your advice. angry

nothing like permanent job, they can sack you at anytime. Take 7.2m contract job and plan before the expiration of 15months.

From what I can perceive from the Op, his mind is on the permanent employment. And given the fact that you don't plan going to business this soon, relax. Don't rush. Take the permanent job.

Can you do the two? If not, find out the tenure of the State government. If the governor will seek re election or finish his tenure next year, kuku take the 150k job.

My former neighbour was offered a 'juicier' job in an MTN partner company (Setbiz Datalinks) but guess what, after one month, they couldn't pay them. They still owe him 2.5months salary.

Life is not straight and plane. Looking logically, you will go for the 7.5m job.But looking at it from a more deeper perspective, I will advice you pick the 150k/month job. One looks unclear but the other looks more clear and defined.

A bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush.

Go for the 7milla contract job.

With the experience & profile you
will acquire from their, you will
definitely be more marketable in
15 months time & will attract better pay
than the 150 being offered now.

Who knows the contacts you will
make in the contract job?

Think BIG man,
Think BIG!!! cool cool

How tha heck is this a quagmire 150k in one year is 1.8m.

That is 4 years salary in 15 months!

And with your expertise, you can even get another job and or another contract!

Don't limit yourself....take the 7.2m!

I believe this comment has answered your question,if your can turn the profit you are going to make from the contract to establish a good business why not going for that contract or if your desire is to let someone be your boss?

For the fact you said the jobs are in 9ja pls go for 7.5m no job in 9ja is permanent...time value of money concept will always appreciate the value of money if used judiciously. But for the 150k anything can happen and you know what am talking about.

To me I can only go for the contract job of 7.2, if only I have make before in life! Meaning you are not starting life from the scratch, but in the order way round there is nothing as good as permanent job, because you make the amount in four years time!

For now, you'd think the 150k/month is a big money, not until you go for it and realize it will be hard to save 100k/month earning such. When the pressures from responsibilities hits your desk, and your gf needs a percentage of that money not excluding calls from family members, only then you would realize you made a big mistake choosing 150k/month over 7.2m.

With the experience you will get upon the completion of that contract, the 150k/month company would be calling you to offer you a job for 250k/month.

There's no better time to think, Nigeria is in the hand of the politicians and that's how they blow.

Remember to pay for stamp duty on your contract agreement via stampduty.gov.ng
all those responsibilitiesu listed up there are the liabilities that comes from having a loud big mouth including the gf part. Forget if the guy can keep his mouth shut regarding his pocket and plan more for his future he will encounter less barriers.

It amuses me how people attract unnecessary problems in their lifes

7.2 million divided by the 15months is a 480k pay per month
Whilts the other offer tend to pay you 150k as long as you wish to stay

From my computation, you will equalise 7.2m after ur 48th month on the job (i. e 4years) if you accept the 2nd offer

It depends on your long run goal, if you wish to stand on your own, well 7.2million is a fine start, but remember you will subtracts all forms of bills from. It, so at the end of the 15th month, you may just b left with 6million, (that is if you are not the Spend-Thrift type) you can use 6million to start a cool stuff, remember the job is a contract job. fear of the unknown may be posing a picture here.

If your long run goal is otherwise, i suggest you go for the 150k per month job, you will only equate the total income of the former job after 4years, but the amazing tin is that you can rely on it and do it till you feel you cant help than to leave. And it is pertinent i say that no good job will retain its initial payment for more than a year, there must be an annual increment. If there is an increment, it will definitely reduce the number of years you will work to total the sum of 7.2m

The ball is in ur court Op

I rest my bow!

Do your calculations well bro, 150 multiply by 15Months will give you? I think the contract job is far better if only there is a renegotiation clause in it.

well... if I was you. I'll go for the contract job as long as it has all the certainty you require.

after the 15months , you never know if you may or could be co-opted into a new project or an extension.

15months is a long time... & as someone asserted u could gain more experience and reapply to the other permanent job and be offered more... (your eye self go Don open self.. ull be looking for something bigger self).

A huge bird in hand... they say is worth more than 10 in d bush.

If you are certain that the government would pay fully the 7.2m,then go for it. If not, kuku take the private. This is Nigeria, assuming government owe you, what can you do? take them to court for a case that would drag for years. like I said, if the government can be trusted, then go for it.

7.2m contract Job
Not 7.2m profit after the project or contract job.

if its a contract job, your profit margin should be between 25% -30%

That's about 1.8m to 2.16m at the end of 15months project period.

Now using the top margin of 2.16m/15months=N144,000 per month for 15minths only

With this, I deduce that you focus on the N150,000 salary earning. And work hard for promotion. . or a better Contract offer.

Thanks

You are right. If he closes his mouth and keeps his status secret, he will save a lot and enjoy most of his earnings. Trust me, I am talking from experience. The 150k/month isn't enough in this economy. He's talking about Abuja, and my house rent in Abuja is more than that 150k coupled with thing things you will put in the room. That 150k seems big but in reality bro, it's just living an average life. But with 7.2m, you can't call him and average citizen.

Contract based on Agreement with strong Legal backing incase of any breach.

You can always secure yet another juicy IT jobs with another company with a better pay of more than #150K.
1 thing for sure, IT professionals don't lack jobs like that as there many roles to play, they're always sought after in most companies to manage their IT Infrastructure.
