was coming from church yesterday 6/10.2010 when some one related a story about a guy who woke up one tragic morning as a result of lack of power from the national grid in Nigeria. Decided to start his generating set to do a few things before heading to his office. Unfortunately his phone rang and the next thing is “oro!oro!oro!” in Yoruba language it is a danger alarm. for complete article visit http://www.geria.net/2010/06/07/can-a-ringing-mobile-phone-ignite-fuel/

Radio transmission is made possible through radioactive wave, which travels through the air, so cannot be seen naturally. The gsm technology uses radioactive wave too and which carries some electrical principles. . .though it happens rarely, but we should be careful when handling gas where a radio actitity is being transmitted, cus it might lead to explosion.

PLEASE! Stop misinforming people, Mr Man. So much nonsense in just four lines.
Radio and GSM transmission is by radio waves, radioactive is something else quite different. Whether it travels through the air or not, is nothing to do with whether it can be seen or not. You can't see light, abi? What are electrical principles? If there is an explosion, it would be nothing to do with the radio activity, but because of some work the phone battery is doing (e.g. battery contact sparking, screen or button lighting, causing fumes to ignite).

1/10, please repeat the year!  embarassed

Anyways, na supastory o! Mobile phone causing explosion is in fact so rare that it has never been proved to happen. In Europe and US, you are warned at petrol station to off your phone, in case of explosion. In fact, nobody ever does, and nothing ever happens. The signs are there so that just in case it ever manages to happen, you no fit sue di petrol station. Them go point the sign an tell u sey dem don warn you aready.

I wonder oo the stuff is so freakin annoyin that sometimes i be like let's even see if it will explode but then again i have second taughts. I ve always wanted to know if it can.

Enough of all this ignition or no ignition thru mobile phone. Let me ask d following- (1) *Are you aware that you make & receive calls vide electromagnetic fields transmitted from telecoms’ base stations (masts) mounted all around us? (2) *Are you also aware of Air & Water Pollution but not aware that invisible E-SMOG (Electromagnetic Pollution) capable of causing cancer, memory failure, depression, fatigue etc which gradually kills the body cells are present everywhere?
* It will be good you PROTECT yourself against electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones by attaching mobile phone WAVE DEFENSE on your GSM phone. Reach me on toxbod@yahoo.com for more info or 08056701680

@ruba_slippa thanks for pointing that out,my mistake. Some ammount of harmful radiation do emanate from the transmission of radio wave too, that's why it causes, though rarely, some slow, but damaging health results like that of a radioactive plant . Also you should know that radiowave transmission carries some little ammount of electrical charges(electromagnetism) for it to generate active radio signal.

Have you ever ask yourself why active gsm calls interfares with electrical appliances like the tv and even computers? It is simply due to some electrical jamms. It is true that a mobile phone battery can cause explosion when aided by gasoline, but it is also true that the usage of gsm close to gasoline can lead to explosion. The fact that it rarely happens doesn't mean its not true. Its just simple physics!

@daylae you assertions does not have scientific backings read this article to find the current position on cancer and mobile phones http://www.geria.net/2010/05/30/largest-ever-study-on-cancer-and-cellphones-finds-no-increase-in-risk/

Really? Please bros, try to understand that the radiation from radio waves is nowhere near the level of radioactive plant. Whereas radio and handset cannot pick signal well without aerial, radioactive plant is so dangerous that nobody wants to live nearby. They even have to pay extra money for people to work there, although they give them protective clothing and test their bodies everyday. Don't confuse the two.

There is nothing like 'some electrical jamms'. The interference is due to the incoming radio signal disturbing the complex electrical circuits inside the tv and the computer - especially the screen and audio.

Please stop saying that usage of gsm close to gasoline can lead to explosion. Even phone battery can only do it theoretically, it's never been known to happen. Don't even say it 'rarely happens'. Bring your example of when it has happened. We don't want to hear beer parlour stories.  cheesy

Mr toxbod, please stop touting and spamming. Your gadget is not even slightly useful. Your E-SMOG would be around whether my GSM phone is on or not, because the signal is still around. Even if I am using my phone, your piece of foil you are selling will just slow the signal. The handset will then increase power automatically to pick the signal well. This will result in the radiation from the phone returning to the original level. On top of that, the increased phone signal output will drain my battery!
