It's really unfortunate. This guy is a personal friend and a colleague.

His former boss owed him salaries and gave him a cheque which bounced. When he went to the office, the boss invited policemen to assault the young lawyer.

Unfortunately for them, they're now feeling the heat as the matter has escalated beyond their wildest dreams.

Your friend made a dire mistake of going back to the firm and insisting on not leaving until payment. Once the ex-boss refused payment, he should have just walked away to make a case defrauded salary with the police. That was the civilized way to go about it without putting himself in a situation of physical assault / harassment. The bounced cheque was sufficient to win in court. A lawyer should know this. But he chose to do it the ‘gangster’ way of approaching the office, and trespassing the boss’s space after being told to leave and not complying (and possibly with harsh verbal exchanges). So he put himself in this unfortunate situation. He should have handled it better as a trained lawyer, not some uneducated villager. No matter what the outcome is, those hard slaps and other physical assaults can never be undone or reversed. He could have won easily if he went about it in a civilized manner. It’s not all battles you fight for yourself; some battles like this, all you need is to tender evidence, press charges and let the law fight for you.

And for those Nigerians clamoring for State Police, this is just the tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg that is a mountain of solid ice rising from the ocean’s bed. If the police ever gets under the control of the state governors / States, not only will there be disparity in their operational modus operandi across the country, but the police will also be used as the attack bulldog of the politicians and elite class to assault and subdue and oppress anyone they like, especially the middle-class and poor. So you middle-class people, continue shouting you want state police, it’s the same state police the elite will use to put you in chains.

Oh no.
This is just too bad.
This is the height of it.
If this matter is taken up, THIS PARTICULAR video should end the issue of SARS TOTALLY.

He came to ask for his salary and they were slapping him so HARD and threatening to blow out his legs?
I have never heard of a cop slapping you for whatever reasons in a society that works.
This harassment is just too much.

Well, he is a lawyer, he should know the right thing to do and the right people he should take the matter to.
In saner climes, his boss (no matter the post he think he is) would be in Police custody at this moment. SHAME!!

#JusticeForKarimu ..........no time!

Watching this video and I feel like crying .It shall never be well with that useless boss and SARS.People still wonder why some boys ventured into illegal deal.

it is a crime to issue a dud check, even more criminal to engage a staff without pay and disengage him. The employer is being wicked and deserves no mercy

Everybody just being lawless. As a lawyer why can't the employee follow due process? You 've the fake check, take it to the station and report him. Let the matter go to court ...even if he denies issuing it , that doesn't take away the fact that he is owing you and must pay.

The cheque was returned because it was not signed and that's why he went to the office.

Abioye Adams
(08080658827-number on olx)
(08132667464-number on whatsapp)
(09063605980-number he called me with)
The person operating this olx account with this link (https://www./item/lg-50-smart-apps-3d-full-hd-iid-1050413581) is a scam please don't patronize him.
I contacted him for television he displayed on olx because I just got an apart in certain part of lekki and decided to furnish it.
Due to the tight nature of my job and late closing hour, I decided to go online to make things easier.
So, I met this person with the olx name as ABIOYE ADAMS who agreed to self an LG television (used) for me for #35,000 which after negotiation we settled for #30,000
We agreed for him to bring it to my office in phase one where I am to pay him in full if the said product is in good shape.
Then he started asking me to send him #5,000 for transport which I refused at first and told him I will pay in full if he can come with the television to my office.
After many pleading and argument on whatsapp (08132667464) I agreed to send him 3,000 which I did as a sign of my serious to patronize him.
I paid the money into this account (3077185096-Oladejo Praise-First Bank).
On getting the money and till now he has refused to bring the television nor even pick my calls.
And if he even pick up the call will be on computer voice.
Please I want people to be aware of this criminal and his likes and how they are defrauding people online.

This is the kind of issues they like to concern themselves with.:. Trafic work, intimidating defenseless civilians etc
Is this the kind of case that they should be handling in the first place? Aren't they suppose to be handling Special Anti Robbery cases? What is special about this?
When they see real armed robbers they will run...or the robbers will kill them all. Just like the recent one in Galadimawa in Abuja.
End Police!

And you tell me to stay put in such a country?

Let us even forget whatever the pre story was. If you were an officer. Someone called to tell you that someone has held them hostage in their office.

You get there and you find a young man wearing a shirt with a cheque in hand. No matter the situation, slapping and threatening to shoot the person on the leg is the least thing you expect any sane non ANIMALISTIC person to do.

And the enablers of these acts are the so called leaders who feign ignorance to such things. If their were actually laws in place and consequences for such. No police offer would do such. Nigeria is not a jungle. To call the country a jungle is an insult to animals living in the Jungle.

Nigeria is a cesspit and any right thinking person should kindly find a way out of this country. The things I see daily happening to average Nigerians by law enforcement agents is far worse than being held in forced servitude.

today same SARS stopped me on road, searched my wallet, my pockets and went into my phone gallery and emails, I was shocked but what could I do "right there in the middle of the road" and it has become a norm.

Well said.

The SARS operatives were long and this video should ensure they lose their jobs.

You are spot on as regards the lawyer's reaction to the bounced cheque he was issued.

You are even more correct with your take on state policing.

Last last, governors would become licensed mobsters.
Even with the little powers they wield they have already set up militias.

Nigerians, you get what you asked for.

SARS Officers Assault Young Lawyer Allegedly Demanding For His Salary In Lagos led by some SARS operatives, allegedly on the orders of his boss who is also a lawyer.
According to reports, the incident happened in the law firm of one Oluyomi Olawore on Friday, 29th of June, 2018, in Lagos.
It was gathered that Karimu had tendered his resignation letter to Olawore in May, 2018, after working there for almost a year, but he begged him to work till June, so as put the new lawyer who would take over from him, through.
He obliged, but midway through June, Olawore allegedly told him to stop work, that his services were no longer needed. Karimu was said to have asked for his pay based on what he had done so far.
The boss gave him a post-dated cheque which would become payable at the end of June. On the due date, Karimu allegedly went to the bank but they refused to pay him because the cheque was not properly signed. .
He went back to Olawore but he refused to sign the cheque, claiming that he had no business with him anymore. Karimu insisted that the cheque was useless to him without the proper signature and refused to leave the office. .
The boss then asked some of his staff to go to Kam Salem Police Station at Obalende, to get police officers, on the ground that Karimu was holding him hostage in his office. The police officers came and the video was the resulting event.

From observation, the SARs guys are putting on face cap, to shield their faces for being recognized by the public, and moreover there is no name tag on their t-shirt for easy identification, this is unacceptable, and the young lawyer should petition the inspector general of police, Agf, etc and see to the end of this embarrassment.

Unfortunately; Nigeria police commission is a top 01 corrupt agency.

Does he have money to bribe them to get justice?

He is a lawyer and lawyers are priviledged no matter there financial status.
If he cannot use his degree, license and skills to start an earth-shaking revolution that will end SARS once and for all, then I can not pity him.

He should know what to do na.

First and foremost, he should go get a medical report and find out the names of SARS terrorist and sue them for fundamental and assault/attempted murder, his boss, the CP, the DIG and IG should be joined in the suit as co-respondents.
He should report his former boss to the disciplinary committe of the NBA too. And then sustain the campaign for the erasure of SARS from history and dedicate it to every person who have been their victims. This is least he can with his law degree for the sake of posterity.
