Op, try boiling the corn with some of the peels and silk still attached. Leaving some of the peels protects the corn from losing nutrients. The nutrients of the silk (Google that) would also infuse into the corn when you boil it with the silk.

Add salt Who taught u that. You only add salt when it is soft unless u don't want the corn to done.
