sprints2:Corruption is a big problem in Nigeria as it is in other countries, however it is not felt in many other countries the way it is in Nigeria because we are tackling it the wrong way. One of the first things Fela mentioned when he started running for office that many of the other aspirants have plagiarized for their campaign without giving him credit, was the eradication of selectocracy from our party systems. People would not turn out to vote without being incentivised to do so because they were not allowed to take part in choosing the leaders they want to run for office in the first place. It's virtually impossible for a presidential aspirant to not be loyal to the godfather who gave him the party running ticket. The godfather invested money and wants to make a return on investment, they end up paying people to vote and when they get into office start making plans to recoup their funding and profit. This therefore makes the president weak and incapable of choosing his own cabinet or even arresting fraudulent elements endorsed by the godfathers. Fela suggested internal party democracy where common members not delegates are allowed to elect or be elected to stand as the running candidate of the party just like it's done in developed countries. This would ensure whoever wins does not only have the mandate of the people but is certain the same people would turn out to vote in the general elections. Without this, we would continue to have leaders who turn a blind eye to corruption practised with impunity. We can tackle corruption the right way by first ensuring the government at all levels is at least free to stand their ground without fear or favour. This can only happen when aspirants become candidates without undergoing the investiture of some political godfather, Then we can start to see real justice in our system. 3 Likes 1 Share |

altitudee:First off, I am not here to convince anyone, I'm not a campaign manager for Fela neither does he even know I exist. I have done my own research on the available candidates to the best of my ability and I enjoin you to do yours and make your own decision based on the results you want to see in Nigeria. Nigerians are fixated on the wrong things and that's why nothing ever happens. Nigeria is the only country where people who fail to show up for debates win elections. How do you know what your aspirants are capable of if the decision of who runs for election on party platforms are made for you? I only need to refer you to YouTube type in "Fela Durotoye' watch all the videos from 2-10 years ago before he started running for President and you would understand what I have seen in him. While others fight politicians on social media or sit in Air conditioned offices and only surface to connect with the grassroot when it's time for election, this man has been mentoring young people for future leadership for over 10 years. The key for me is someone who embodies the values i want to see in my nation. I am not so sure he is the right person for the job, by all means if I find someone better I would be glad to move on, but he has demonstrated goodwill in ways I am yet to see in the other aspirants. Fela is not die hard interested in winning the election, he has clearly stated what he hopes to achieve with this, and that is to get people thinking about the kind of leaders we want. In his own words, he is "running for a new Nigeria" and win or lose, if he can get people to wake up and smell the coffee so we elect people who aren't paying us to oppress us, he is certain we wouldn't be far from liberation. I never said I am not suitable for the job. I believe I have contributed so much to the good of my country and will continue to do so to the best of my ability in what ever capacity I am called to do so. I just feel people like Fela in office would make it a lot easier for people to see what a visionary leader is capable of. Subsequent elections afterwards would be based on quality not quantity of pocket and maybe someday people like me would have a fair ground to contest a future election that is not marred by unintellectual opponents, electoral violence and dirty politicking. At the moment, I am currently outside the country working hard to ensure I am capable of delivering the best to my country with or without office. I didn't say he needs to be President to give people jobs, where did you get that? Presidents do not give jobs because jobs are not given by presidents, they are created. The created jobs are then given to the populace to manage and thats what we refer to as given jobs(because it becomes an accepted responsibility that keeps people busy and less likely to be idle enough to indulge in unproductive exploits). Its a president's duty to get us good deals internationally and provide a conducive environment for nation bullding. If you understand the dynamics of nation building you would understand that a job is not a favour but a responsibility. The reason there is high rate of unemployment is because you have leaders who do not even understand what education is meant to accomplish in the scheme of nation building. After studying something else in school, they tell you to go weave a basket to make a living when they have created no industry for baskets to thrive internationally neither have they identified a local shortage or economic need for baskets within the country. Leaders who can not make educated or informed decisions affecting the lives of its populace, would rely entirely on policing everyone throughout their tenure. Please do your research I'm not here to convince you or anyone. I'm only sharing a story of my discovery. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Duru009:I believe if he actually did this it must have been published somewhere? please can you send a link? I however have gone to look up his 2015 congratulatory message to those who won the 2015 elections to see if he admits to campaigning for Buhari or anyone and I can't see anywhere he did that. Rather I see a man urging people to not rely on a few people in government to bring change but work collectively towards it. Here is the speech. https://www.facebook.com/feladurotoye/posts/feladurotoye%27s-2015-democracy-day-message/10153310015728340/ 1 Like |

Even Channels show him a footage in far back 2014, were he was telling people in a gathering to vote against GEJ and vote for Buhari !. Infact, He was shocked ! I like him as a person n motivational speaker. But with this alone, he should stop deceiving himself. He is no saint ! |

Duru009:The only interview I have seen of Fela sitting in a channels tv studio this year was in January, where he said money will fail in 2019 elections, he wasn't shown any video neither was it spoken about. I have searched through Channels tv logs online and haven't found any interview where the things you have mentioned transpired. I believe if this video exists it would be everywhere online. Kindly post a link if you are certain this actually happened. 2 Likes |
