EXPOSED!! Lagos State Government Reveals The Owner Of Tanker That Caused Otedola by 14Ebiscoo: 10:08pm On Jul 25, 2018
The Lagos State government has announced that it has discovered the owner of the fuel tanker that was responsible for the explosion that claimed at least 12 lives in the state last month.

The Mack tanker truck, loaded with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lost control of its brake and exploded on Otedola Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway after spilling its content on June 28, 2018.

At least 12 people were killed in the inferno with a few others injured with varying degrees of burns.

Preliminary investigation by the government had revealed that the fuel tanker in question was registered in Kano State and had changed ownership 13 times since purchase.

However, while speaking during a meeting on investigations conducted about the accident, at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, the state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Ladi Lawanson, disclosed the current owner of the tanker to be a certain Hassan Yusuf Maiwaka.

According to reporters, Lawanson disclosed that Maiwaka will be brought to the state to face prosecution as the government had earlier ruled that the accident occurred due to a combination of the vehicular defect and human errors.

Earlier in July, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, disclosed plans to prosecute the driver as well as the owner of the fuel tanker. Lawanson had also disclosed that the tanker was originally designed as a 14,959kg (approximately 15 ton) drilling rig with a low bed in 1999 before it was converted in Nigeria to a fuel tank carrier of 30 tonnes.
He said;

“From this preliminary investigation, the truck should not have been loaded to the weight of 30 tonnes, which is twice its pulling capacity,”
he said.

55 cars lost in an accident

Tuesday’s meeting was convened by the state’s Ministry of Transport to enable the Nigerian Insurers Associations access vehicles damaged in the accident in order to take necessary steps in ensuring prompt and proper payment of compensation to the victims and their families.

Lawanson said a total of 55 vehicles were involved in the accident and 39 of them were registered in Lagos; and their owners have been traced and contacted.

The Director-General of Nigerian Insurers Associations, Yetunde Ilori, assured that all genuine cases of insurance claims involved in the accident will be supported and claims will be paid by the concerned insurance companies both for the burnt vehicles and lives lost.

Olanireti:
He should be held accountable.

Why should he be held accountable, was he the one that drove the truck? At least that was the same argument Christian brothers and sisters used to exonerate T. B. Joshua when his unprofessionally designed and built building collapsed and killed more than a hundred people.

If the lagos state government cannot prosecute T.B. Joshua, how come they are desperate to prosecute the owner of the truck?

All these to prove that our government are not incompetent. Well too late, we all know how useless y'all are especially the president. Tragedy of such magnitude has to be someone's fault. We can't talk all the blames please , that's our government for you

Medicine after death.

Is he the driver or the owner

If he is the owner and not the driver, leave him be. Arrest the driver if you can locate him.

U have turned his innocent comment to religious war already.

What is ur problem? Don't u care for the loss of lives?
Did he support TB Joshua? TB Joshua should be prosecuted and if he's wrong should be jailed, isn't that what u wanna hear?

Na wa for Una self.

With this kind of whack mentality some of u display in this country, one doesn't need to look far to know why Nigeria is not moving forward.

The reason Nigeria can never and I repeat can never progress is because of hypocrisy. When the Synagogue Church episode happened, I shouted loudly that the main man himself should be arrested to explain how he allowed a substandard project to be executed in his church. I got insulted by other Christians telling me that it's the contractor that should be liable for questioning and prosecution and not the owner of the project. In fact Lagos States government went after the contractor without ever questioning T. B. Joshua.

Now a similar scenario has taken place, a substandard truck plying Lagos road has killed dozens of people and damaged scores of cars, and the same people and the same Lagos state government is calling for the arrest of the owner of the truck and not the driver or even the mechanic of the truck. Now you do not need Google to tell you that is hypocrisy.

And someone is accusing me of starting a religious war. In the same vain, the people calling for head of the Mallam that owned the truck is starting an ethnic war.

I wish the war am starting is a class war, because there are different laws for the rich and powerful and another law for the masses. If the truck had belonged to a high and mighty like Dangote, I am certain Lagos States Government or the people on this forum would never think of arresting Dangote to answer for his trucks.

If it was Dangote or anybody involved, they should face the music.
That's my own in this issue.
