Somewhere along the lines of living life people have dreams and aspire to pursue them no matter how fantasized the dreams may appear to others. I say this to say that it has always been a personal dream of mine to be living the life I am currently living, but with the exception of a few things currently transpiring.
Hello my name is Tashawn Ransome and my life is comparable to a movie. Originally from Baltimore, Md I am currently a resident of Knoxville, Tn. Ever since I visited Nigeria in December 2015 I have been a part time resident of the country and my eyes have been held wide open to the many challenges people of the country face. Those who know me well are very aware that before I traveled to the country I faced countless challenges on my own, but nonetheless I made the choice to become aware of the struggles of the Nigerian people as well. In making that decision God chose to bless me with a son and also bless a Union between his dad and I; meaning I am married to a Nigerian man. My husband is Urhobo and Isoko by tribe. Due to the nature of the situation, my husband not having a visa to enter into the United States, along with other personal sentiments, I deemed it important for me and my son to continue visiting the country in order to be fully immersed in the culture.
Fast forwarding to now I am here in Nigeria for the third time and I am more awake than ever before, even more so than my previous visits. In some ways on my first visit I was still a small naive child. I was ecstatic to be in an African country because I'd always dreamed of traveling the world. And although the circumstances in which I got there were stranger than most I was finally here. I was anxious to visit villages and see how people really live and if possible start some type of fund me and NGO foundation to give people effected by oil spills aid that they needed. I was under the assumption that Nigerian people were welcoming me with open arms but in between coming and going I have realized that not every smile and mouth that forms the phrase welcome are really genuine. I have been met with plenty envy, opposition, misunderstanding and while I know that isn't the case for all Nigerians the bad is over shadowing the good. Therefore, Now the third time around I tire for the country.

Upon arriving this time My passports were seized at the airport by immigration for not having a visa. I immediately knew that I qualified for a visa on arrival and that they wanted me to pay bribe before they would begin to service me promptly. I received a receipt stating that they ( Nigerian immigration) held my passports and I proceeded to leave the airport to continue with my trip without my and my son's passports; I refused to pay the exorbitant prices that purposely exceeded the originally stated amount for two visas on arrival.

The former is the first example I have witnessed of corruption inside Nigeria. It is not my first experience but this is the first time I am writing about it.
The second incident is a bit more in depth and it goes as the following: my husband is a politician and registered member of the APC. His uncle Akwenuke, Moses is a registered member of the PDP and former employee of Despodec. I'm not sure how the drama really began I just know that my husband started telling me how his uncle Moses and a pastor by the name of ayo oristejefor have been smuggling guns, keeping them inside of churches, and giving the guns out to area youths in order to aggravate tribal conflict between ijaw and urhobo tribes. As I think back on it I'm realizing that this goes even deeper into political matters as other political leaders also had dealings inside of criminal activities to fuel tribal fighting along with funding yahoo boys who do scam to collect monies from residents of countries over seas.

To make a long story very short my husband and his uncle used to be very close. So close that his uncle dashed my husband a computer which must have came from government funding because my husband says that there is evidence inside the computer that will frame the uncle and many others for acquiring government funds meant for government projects, such as infrastructure or roads, in an illegal manner. My husband was polite enough to message the uncle and tell him what he intended to do. Therefore back in December the uncle went to my Husbands family compound with some cult boys ( he is a member of Aiye Axe) and beat my husband until he delivered them the computer; along with carrying all my Husbands important life documents, cell phone, wedding ring, etc. away. Why am I so deeply invested in the matter? Well other than the attack on my husband I was fortunate enough to receive a phone call from the uncle while he was performing the beating. The call consisted of the uncle telling me he was the police and that I should find some way to send my husband money or he would put him in jail and kill him. I insisted that he couldn't be the police calling my line and asking for a bribe in order to let an innocent man go. After the call I proceeded to find out who called me bc at the time I was unaware. I entered the number into WhatsApp and realized it was no other than the criminal politician himself. I tried to engage in a civil conversation with the man but he did nothing but display even more savagery. After no resolve on his part I vowed to him that I would get to Nigeria and deal with the matter myself. Now here we are today. I am here in Nigeria and all this man can do is send threats through my Husbands father, his brother. All he can do is send idiotic messages to my phone. All he can do is use his ego. And lastly all he can do is to send insinuating emojis to my phone that display he is cool and he is a killer that has many connection in the police army and cult organizations. I have asked him politely to meet in order to settle and get my Husbands documents back or for him to be considerate and deliver the documents back to the compound in the same manner in which he stole them away, But he refuses. He insisted that if I value my life I should delete my former nairaland posts that are about him. I refuse to delete a thing. Everything I wrote and say is the truth. And if he is decidedly against the truth and wishes to kill it I invite him to attempt to do so. You see, in life there are choices and there are consequences. I chose to come here and be the light inside the darkness. No one can put out my light. So my message to Moses, Aiye Axe, Nigerian police, Nigerian army, and United States consulate and embassy: I am determined to make a difference here because I believe there is still some small light left in this country. Everyone here isn't corrupt and I will prove it. I am willing to lead those who want to become the light and leave the darkness behind. The time has come to be the best people you can be and I am here for those who truly wish to be better and see change. I am here for the people who cannot afford to send their kids out the country for schooling. I am here for the adults who can not travel abroad but still are looking for a legal source of income. And last but not least I am here for the youth who are looking for positive outlets to invest their time to make them responsible young adults. If you wish to oppose me and not do your jobs by protecting me then may the force forever be with me and may best (wo)man win. I wish I could beg and plead for help and sympathy but I am not here to play the damsel in distress role. Yes I do want security it would be nice and secure to have it and not have to second guess about certain things. I also have to mention that in the near future I may very well be in the middle and get to witness a real tribal/ ethnic war, so then I'll really need security. who ever grew from being comfortable? So I am here and I'll be here until I do what I have sought out to do. Any women man youth or child who this message aligns with I invite you to align with me; I want to pick trash, provide clean water, toilets and etc. if you wish to have a better life without traveling abroad then start here and value your own country. I will not be defeated nor will I give up due to over egotistical men who don't know when it is their Time to sit down and let the real youth run Nigeria. If you are 45 and over please share your knowledge and whatever wealth you have and let us, the true youth, make Nigeria great again. If you refuse then ok. Suit yourself. For God is working within me and using me so I will not fail. Thank you for your valuable time. And once again if you want to join forces with me feel free to send a message or leave your contact below. I need real help not fake politicians or agencies with their own agendas.
I have reported this matter to all agencies it concerned: army, police, embassy; I even reached out to chief Amos Itiwhe who is running for a position this upcoming election. He chose to not indulge in this situation just as he chose to set a date with me on which we were to go around and Access urhobo communities that have little to no water, but he stood me up. These are the leaders you guys are choosing ones who could careless about the environment and even less about providing decent jobs to people who need to provide for their families. Let us discontinue go give these people power over our lives and future states. Let us take back our power and do what is needed for ourselves. Forget about not having money, money will come. Thank you have a blessed day!
