Hello Nairalanders, I am studying English as a course in a University, I'll love to do a course (probably before I graduate, as i still have two years to go) that will buttress my Bachelor's degree.

Your replies would be highly appreciated. thanks y'all. kiss grin cheesy wink smiley kiss grin cheesy wink smiley

well, English is not exactly a 'professional' type of course.
Unless you want to go in another direction, most people who study English work as teachers of some sort.
I think the best for you, being a language person, is to target a career as a PA or some sort of office administrator. You can take one of those courses like speedwriting, computer appreciation, and secretarial admin, all in one. There's a school at, I think, Opebi, and there's another one close to Unilag, at Akoka, assuming you live in Lagos.
Office administration is a good career, and they always in demand. Many of them later move into mainstream corporate life, and possibly become CEOs themselves.

I'll advice you to make the most of your time actually gaining 'work experience' instead of looking for a certificate
it's quite unfortunate students are almost made to feel they need a certificate to get 'a start'
you should be looking to join the university magazine, the skills you gain outside of your course is more important at the start than any certificate- and any certificate targeting english course grad are almost likely to be fake and taking advantage of the trend as most of them are not registered or recognised bodies
Apart from Admin and Clerical you should be looking for experience in

Advertising and Marketing
Public Relations
Publishing

@ disguy, your advice is spot on. In addition to this try and learn a second language maybe french or spanish to elementary proficiency level.

What do you have flair for? Why not look in that direction first?
Then develop that aspect for economic gain.
Thanks.
