Cost of living in Lagos varies between Island and mainland. Mainland, close to the border and close to entrances is very affordable. Don't ever live far from your work place. It's like living in one LGA and working in another even in any other state, it won't be easy. Lagos is a commercial state.
Many good coys with good pay are on the Island,. Now, how many people can afford to live close to their workplace here? To live in Ikoyi, VI and all those areas no be moin moin my dear.

that's it. The moment they know you're nearing your retirement, they look for one offence to rope you in, and then fire you. I had an account Officer in one of the old generation banks, who was so diligent and kind. He was promoted to a regional manager after which they sacked him. My company is 8 years old. I'm known all over the place. I was invited in may by a US firm who nominated my company for a dinner with the president of the US. I almost wept when I found out that I was the only one invited from Nigeria of over 200m population. Somebody else would have taken the glory with nothing to benefit other than my usual monthly salary, God forbid. God's grace covers human efforts. I once read about the guys behind remita, who also own system specs, I said wow! Do you know what remita rakes in every year? Billions!!! Those guys would soon buy up Nigeria grin. The journey of remita started in one day.

You are right and I hope that in the next 5yrs mine would get to your level! I look at the opportunities that abound and I say Nigeria is blessed and sometimes I wonder why people pay so much to go to Europe to pick tomatoes !

Bros , I must be honest , I enjoy having my firm...I laugh when they use my firm as a reference point, I consult for my former employer now ! I laugh when they bring my CV

In all, I thank Lord for giving me the guts to see what others didn't see! When I resigned ...I looked at my wife and told her babe...this first few years would be tough !

Guess what...it was the first few months....I wake up by 8 am ...watch my news...do my emails , confirm meetings with my clients and head to meeting straight....then touch office like 12 am

I know that if I continue like this...by few years time I have diversified ... I give God the glory

You have used examples that do not constitute up to 10% of those working in Lagos.

Most Lagosians actually work for the transporters and Landlords.

70k a month will make you a big boy in most cities in Nigeria

Some have built houses with that income.

Lagos to me is the most expensive and overrated city in Nigeria.

Abuja is far cheaper to live.

The best city to live an work is Calabar.

If you earn 250k in calabar you can own your own house with ease in 3yrs.

Bro can we talk more about calabar abeg?

lol. It takes guts and determination to take such a harsh decision. I remember when I took same decision. My wife and I drank gari for 6 months, I pitied our little son back then because the golden morn we used to buy for him was suspended indefinitelyr. But now, he attends one of the best schools in this country, including his 2 other siblings. I wasn't lacking anything before I resigned but within myself, I wasn't feeling fulfilled. I had an official car which was given to me brand new within a month of joining the company as one of the benefits that came with the employment package. I'd leave my house as early as 4;30am to beat the Lagos traffic. When I get to the office, I'd now close the door, put on the AC and sleep off, before the arrival of my colleagues . My weekends were always being shared with me. We used to have trainings on weekends. They'd now tie us down with one yeye Mr biggs food packs. I'd be too tired to eat the food sef because we used to finish late. I resigned without a farthing in my account, no vehicle to take home because I had submitted the official car key as the policy demanded . Bros, after 6 months, things began to change for the better. If I mention my company name in this forum... grin. So, that's how far determination could take you. I dine with world presidents. I won't say more than that. God's grace encompassed my effort. My colleagues I left behind are still the way I left them. Nothing has changed. Those who managed to relocate abroad, I do spend money on whenever I visit and decide to stop over to say hello. Sorry I want to sound religious here, anyone who still says YES SIR to his employer, should read the book of proverb chapter 4 from verse 5 to-12 , such a person would be inspired and probably begin thinking differently. The chapter dwells on wisdom...seeking Wisdom ( ideas) and it's benefits. That's what we lack today. All the best bro

Bros Abeg hit me up on mooredavid298@gmail.com

Average Lagos Salary = #50,000
Transportation Berger to Lekki = @ #650 per day (23)= #14,950
Feeding @ #700/per day = 26 x # 500 = # 13,000
Average Housing (1 bed) = #250,000/12 = # 20,833.33
Total cost = # 48,783.33

which other state offers opportunities like Lagos? in the south south you rarely see companies, apart from hotel, filling station, even oil companies have their offices in Lagos.
please I'll like to know a state better than Lagos for a fresh graduate like me.

When people make posts like this, they should put them in proper perspective. The truth of what is written there depends largely on the salary the person earns. Maybe the writer is just a fresh graduate working for a one-man business and earning 70k per month.

How many people make more than 70k. They constitute less. Eh easy to see 70k work for lagos talk more of other states in Nigeria? My friend has been working in lagos for 3 years now tell me he has no savings what so ever. He lives from pay to pay

Money issues pushed us to live in that region, we moved to Surulere immediately we could afford it.
We have bought a plot of land there for future purposes.

Those born and bred in Lagos know that making it in Lagos easily was a thing of the past.

People in the East see Lagos as a place where people pick money on the floor.

When lagosians relocate to east to start business they see us as mad people

Many people in the East want to come to Lagos because they believe money is here.

What an irony. Nigeria generally not easy like before
there is money everywhere whether lagos or south east 'Ones ability to spot the money is what makes him RICH or POOR Don't care if Nigeria is hard or not
