Dear All,

The Institute has completed the new syllabus that will be effective November 2019. Consequently, an awareness programmes has been scheduled to sensitise all the stakeholders about the syllabus. The locations and dates of the programme are herewith stated below:

Lagos:           August 14, 2018 - Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos

Ibadan:          August 03, 2018 - Premier Hotel, Mokola Hill, Ibadan

Kano:             August 08, 2018 - Bayero University, Kano

Abuja:           August 10, 2018 - Ultimate Sharon Hotel, Tafawa Balewa Way, Area 3 Garki, Abuja

Port Harcourt:  August 15, 2018 - University of PortHarcourt

Enugu:            August 17, 2018 - IMT Conference Centre, Enugu.


*Few Highlights from the Awareness seminar held in Ikeja Airport Hotel, Lagos*

1. On screen marking simplify things and make possible to have exams 4 times a year.

2. Once an exam is finished the script is scanned and hosted in cloud to prevent theft and fire. Strict supervision using on screen marking.

3. The marking process is faster with on screen marking than conference marking thereby reducing the exam result releasing process .

4. Syllabus changes:

Foundation is computer based.
Business QT is removed.
Replaced with taxation

Skills.
Question 1 is 40 marks and compulsory.
The rest are 20 marks to answer 3 out of 5.
Reading time of 15 mins included.

Taxation removed from skills and dropped to foundation.

MGE changed to Corporate strategic management and ethics.

Professional.
Just like skills in mode of exam.
But no change in courses.


5. Ican holders is equivalent to ICAEW of England and Wales. 5 years post qualification proven experience is needed for that.

6. And now ICAN is made higher in level and grade than ACCA. ICAEW fact finding team made their report concerning it and are signing a *full reciprocal* arrangements with ICAN to obtain their ACA membership *without writing any exams.*

7. Immediate Past President of ican spoke of "My ican page" to help track post qualification experience for easy prove. it will be available soon.

8. ICAN soon to get its own university. In the pipeline.

9. The disciplinary measures read and explained and misconduct to avoid explained.

How?

Ican to get its own university? Lost priority, there is always a difference between academic and professionals.

Did I see higher than ACCA? With their shitty questions, website, exam centres.. etc. Every improvement made by ican has long been implemented by Acca. Check ACCA website alone, the resources provided there is enough to make one a complete accountant, Acca also interacts with its students better and conduct continuous research. You have opportunity to do CBEs in Acca in Fundamentals and Skills... If ican really wants to be at acca level, they must work very hard. Unfortunately na naija we dey, the process is still mediocre, so dont expect top notch output. Its good to know they are chasing well tho.
