Former governor of Jigawa state and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, alleged that Senator Godswill Akpabio was blackmailed into joining the All Progressives Congress (APC). Lamido, who made this statement while addressing propose delegates to the national convention of the party, said APC government showed “Senator Akpabio some files and he became afraid” and dumped PDP for APC.

Governor Dankwambo Lamido said: “It is a disgrace for the APC government to give former governor Akpabio the type of reception he was given. “It shows that the government is not serious about fighting corruption."
