Very ok without pouring hot water ...to retain the nutrients...your cooking is very ok but should reduce the oil..

Kudos! Next time add iru, (locust bean) it gives it a special flavour. You can also add a bit of ginger to the pepper before grinding. Those little tinnies have great nutritional value. Then watch how you dish the food. You smeared the bowl with the droppings. It makes it look unattractive.

I mostly cook efo elegunsi using ugwu or dried ewuro. I especially love the ewuro (bitter leaf) I don't soak the ewuro in hot water, I like to protect the nutrients from washing away. My husband prefers the efo elegunsi to efo riro, you should try it out too. You will like the bitter-sweet aftermath ewuro taste.

I will google it and see maybe I can attempt to try it

That red coloring is from Soko. Very nutritious vegetable. It releases a thick, red coloring when you cook it.

You get the flavour more when it is blended. Then you can use those other bigger ones whole. They sell it separately. Apart from the fact that they taste nice, they also beautify the dish.

There is no tomato in Efo Riro and you don’t blend the tatashe and the pepper to a paste. It has to be a little chunky with the onions. Don’t add ginger ooo, it takes away from the local flavor. You should have used Iru.

Too much oil. But no problem since it's an older mmanu cuisine. Nice one bro

Not everybody soak the vegetable in hot water before cooking. My dad believes the hot water kills mos of the nutrients. So when cooking vegetables for him, we just rinse the veggies with salt and add to the sauce.
yes, vegetables contain water - soluble minerals that are lost when washed it hot water, you would be left with chaf, and it's best to wash your vegetables before cutting, to ensure cleaner, sand free vegetables. Team #bachelorchef grin
