Your thought patterns will affect who you are to a great extent so it would interest you to know that there are thinking habits you can consciously adopt to gain self-confidence.
The reason many people are able to gain an audience with highly successful people, pitch ideas to a room full of strangers, make moves on people they are attracted to or simply get an opportunity they have waited for all their lives is because they were self-confident enough.
Sometimes, it is not about how much you know or how well you look, it is all about the manner of presentation. Thus, if you are looking to develop your self-confidence then try these:

1. Always consider your future-self
Before you take any decision or choose to procrastinate on some task, think of how it will affect you in the future- ten minutes later, tomorrow or even 10-20 years down the line. Knowing that you took care of something as at when due boosts confidence.

2. Don’t fret when you don’t always feel confident
You are working on your self-confidence. But that doesn’t mean worrying each time you don’t feel so good about yourself. Occasional self-doubt humbles you and keeps on your toes.

3. Re-label failures
Life is all about perspectives. When something doesn’t work out, see it as an opportunity to learn or a setback that you will definitely bounce back from. Get the word, ‘failure’ out of your vocabulary.

4. Know your strengths
Study yourself to know the things that naturally come to you so you don’t set yourself up for rough patches. This habit gives you focus.

5. Talk to yourself
Encourage yourself as realistically but positively as possible. Practice it till it becomes part of you to motivate yourself.
Ultimately, keeping in view your life’s purpose is sure to give you self-confidence because you know where you are headed in life.
