Presidential Debate Begins April 2 by Mamajama(m): 2:19pm On Mar 31, 2007
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Umar Yar’Adua, will on Thursday engage the presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, in a presidential debate to tell Nigerians their programmes.

The debate is being put together by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) comprising the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigeria Guild of Editors, the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria, The Nigeria Economic Summit Group, among others.

I think this is a good development for our nation, let them tell us what they can do before election

The presidential elections debate in Nigeria is just one big farce.
Candidates find themselves engaging in discussions that will never
amount to anything. They make hyped up and open ended promises
and when the elections are over, It's business as usual.

Nothing will be done differently and the nation continues to drift into
a point of no return. I say forget the debates and let us elect someone
who can really give the nation a new direction., a new sense of worth and pride and a new mandate to face the future as an new and improved giant of Africa.

Believe me, the debate is a joke. we really don't need those kinds of
circus anymore.

Yar adua should be made to face Okotie, There is no difference btw Ya Adua and Buhari. They talk same way, u can barely hear what they are saying.

@firstborn,

I agree with you totally. I was going to say about the same thing but you beat me to it. Let Okotie face-off with these Generals, afterall he has been acclaimed most popular Presidential aspirant by an independent and credible group. Let him trade off his ideas against those geriatric thinking politicians.

Knowing PDP however, I'm sure they will resist such an attempt vehemently. They only have to look back at Nwobodo's humiliation when pitted with Okotie at the last election.  Also, I'm sure NEPA will make power available when Yaradua debates and they will not want to give Okotie more air-time because of his increaing threat to their power base.
