budaatum:
I must confess that I never used to eat out much since I'm a rather good cook myself. And now I eat much less so it's hardly worth eating out. I bought a pressure cooker today thoug. I'm hungering for beans, so I'm going to get some panla and ede during the week and kill it in pepper. Might have it with some dodo though I'm not usually one for frying.

I went to the further away one recently when I found there was a shortage of Guinness. Ireland have copied Nigerians' and the shops in my neighbourhood were trying to palm it off on me. I went to the further away one in the afternoon and the waitress swore Nigeria was written on the bottle she had except when she checked she couldn't find it written anywhere. Next time I went she hid behind the counter. Only other place I do go on Old Kent Road is Le Joint. It's a fish place run by Lado or something close. Tiny, but my old school association get a good deal so we like it.

I used to go to a place in Deptford called Broadway. T'was run by a lawyer, least she said she was, and her sons, but it's shut down now. I've also been someplace popular in Deptford, along the market, but they got crawlies, and I hate crawlies despite their nice takeaways so don't go no more. Then there's Flames on Lee High Road which used to be my local long before Pastor Sam and his Ghanaian wife took over. It started off with some nice lady who made good food which I liked, then some guys took it over before P. Sam. I liked it because I could go in at 2am and still get fed, and since it was always dead, it was a favorite of mine to go read a book. At times you'd of thought I worked there.

Sola did say he started off in Lagos having learnt from his ma.
I must say, they've made a good go at it and have even opened a second place, in Finchley, I think it is.
In the early days it was me and a book there too, but they get very busy these days,
or perhaps I don't go in the afternoon anymore after half days at work. I might go check one of these days

Memories! I used to help with planning applications is how I got to know most of the local places really, and the fact my living wasn't conducive to cooking much. We Nigerians seem to always be looking for some corner to cut so I had to insist on paying for my food despite them offering me freebies. I used to hate they'd get slack just because I'm Nigerian!

Talking about books, for like since I was seven and ma whipped reading into me, I'd read everyday and would sometimes have up to five going. But the last two years since I got back from Nigeria, I don't think I've read five books, and that's an exaggeration, I think closer to less than two and a half! It's why you're getting this long story.
I make more words these days than I actually read! But I think podcasts are taking over.
I'm currently hooked on the History of China, and plan to listen to the Bible again,
but this time I might do it in the nude to see what barriers get broken down.

Damn, do I not just ramble on!
I take it then that you never been to, back in the day but now defunct "Adani"?
It used to operate from one of the blocks of shops sandwiched between Harper Road and that New Kent Road Esso filling station
Not far from New Kent Road flyover?

I used to have an extensive library, but everything I have now are 99% soft copies
I hardly anymore stock up on, whatever is left of my hard copies.
Dont get me wrong, I do ocassionaly, at the flea market, buy the odd hard copy,
if/when I come across an unusual & interesting one that irresistibly takes my fancy

I've lately been nursing the idea of having DIY "Ewa Aganyin" and so have been toying with the idea of acquiring a pressure cooker.
You mentioning pressure cooker now, might just have spurred me on, to go get one soonest possible.

I think, I have this gift of intuition.
Without quite putting my finger on things or people, my reservations are often proved right at the end
For some reason, that place in Deptford called Broadway, never took my fancy.

Give the Barking Road East Ham/Canning Town DLR "Abula" a trial and come thank me later.
The place is called "Squires", just after the flyover.
It's five minutes walk coming out of Canning Town DLR

I have my stories too, like declining freebies,
and convincing them I'll take it next time, but knowing I'll repeat the same line next time
Or their not letting me pay, is my cue, to not patronise or buy from them again

There is a poster here, using the monicker, ivysunday, she's from China
She copies and pastes lengthy posts here,
she can tell you about whatever you want to learn China about.
I would love to learn speaking China
I learnt Italian years ago, but now completely forgotten what I learnt.
Too many things wanting to do, and this side of life, being too short, isnt helping

I love the sun and luckily for us, the sun rises in the morning into our bedroom windows and sets in the afternoon/evening in living room.
In the buff, is how I am, taking and soaking in the sun during the AMs and PMs sweltering English summer.
I stand and/or lie down starkers for small doses of the gleaming sunlight
As the sun hits my body au naturel, I get this pleasurable sense, of barriers getting broken down.
I love it. I love it, I just love the experience.
