Olaadegbu, You seem to forget that Governments are not God's creation and as such they really don't have to work for God, study your Bible very well my friend and you will find that the devil is the god of this World which is why the Bible warns every man to "work for his/her own Salvation with fear and trembling"

You the W, JC and mr. Page are great examples of Christians don't ya? grin grin grin grin

This reveals to me that you don't read nor study your bible very well if at all.  Read the epistle of Paul to the Romans chapter 13, and you will find out that in God's plan He has determined that human governments exists to help Him carry on moral government and to enforce moral laws.  Though they are appointed by God they are responsible their acts as they will give account of it on Judgment Day.  If the government got out of line God will judge them just as He will also judge gospel ministers.  This is why it is the responsibility of discerning Christians  to pray for those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-4) so that we can live a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty as you see J.C. Watts doing in the pic. posted.

JC Watts is a lobbyist now, you know what those guys do?

Stop fooling your self about having a good government here on Earth when we should be concerned about where we will spend Eternity. The guys in your picture don't represent Christianity for me and I live HERE.

The onus is on you to prove to us that the founding fathers where slave traders, don't expect to make a spurious claim and expect us to swallow it hook, line and sinker.

Since you're too lazy to do a search of the obvious i'd just pick on two of the biggest names to buttress my claim

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington_and_slavery

George Washington, from the time he was born, would be associated with slavery for the rest of his life; owning hundreds of slaves on his Mt. Vernon plantation in Virginia.

When Washington was 11 years old he inherited 10 slaves and 500 acres of land. He began managing the Mount Vernon plantation eleven years later, at the age of 22, he had a work force of about 36 slaves. With his marriage to Martha Custis in 1759, 20 of her slaves came to Mount Vernon. After their marriage, Washington purchased even more slaves. The slave population also increased because the slaves were marrying and raising their own families. By 1786, there were 216 active slaves on Mt. Vernon.[1] By 1799, when George Washington died, there were an estimated 316 slaves living on the estate

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson

Monticello was also Thomas Jefferson's slave plantation. Throughout a period lasting seventy years, Thomas Jefferson owned over 600 slaves

You happy now? So you still want us to espouse the values and ideals of these massive slave owners? I'm sure you do mr. uncle thomas

If the white man reaped off the black man it is because the black greedy man sold his brother off as they are still doing today.

Nice line of defense coming from an obvious uncle tom of his superior white masters who can do no wrong. "blame the victims". So, because there were nazi co-conspirators in nazi occupied europe the nazis should be absolved of all wrongdoings or because the US are able to impose puppet governments ran by iraqis justifies the murdering of innocent women and children in a war based on a lie?

like i said in my earlier post, its not too late. they're lots of bleaching creams available these days to turn you white like michael jackson so that you can feel much better about yourself. ewu

Are All Men Created Equal?

It is good to remind ourselves, from time to time, that the foundational charter of America, the Declaration of Independence, is a creationist document.  Our founding fathers separated from England by citing the Biblical truth that all men are created equal.  This status recognized inalienable human rights granted by the Creator and not by men or governments.  The world has benefited by the successful separation, as America has been a source of freedom and hope to many.  Most importantly, America has been a nation from which the Gospel has emanated.

But what of the idea that all individual men are created equal?  Certainly the circumstances of their birth have not been equal.  All have different levels of ability and opportunity.  Even access to Gospel truth has not been equal.  In what way are we created equal?

Historically, we all come from the same ancestral source.  From Noah and his sons "was the whole earth overspread" (Genesis 9:19).  Before that all came from Adam "the first man" (I Corinthians 15:45-46) and Eve, "the mother of all living" (Genesis 3:20).  There are no others, for God "hath made of one blood all nations of men" (Acts 17:26).  The modern distinction of "race" is not the Biblical concept in which differences stem from the separation at Babel based solely on "every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations" (Genesis 10:5).

Genetically, we are "equal" as well.  Now that the human genome has been deciphered, we know every human is so similar to everyone else that we are all essentially "clones" of each other.  The various expressions we recognize are best understood as designed adaptations.

Personally, we are equal too.  The Bible tells us that "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).  Thankfully, Christ "is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world" (I John 2:2).

Eternally, we will be evaluated equally; based on our creed, not rank of birth.  The unbelieving "peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues" (Revelation 17:15) are consigned to judgment, while the redeemed believers gather around His throne singing His praises from "every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation" (5:9).  The unequal rewards or consequences will be due to our choices and conduct after having an equal standing.

Equal rights called for in the Declaration were an extension based on a higher Charter, the Holy Scriptures.  If we would fully embrace the Declaration, we must cling to its underlying Document.

SHUT UP!!!. . . .Firstly you are not an American, and secondly there is NO where in the bible that states that all men were created equal, if you have any part of the bible that says so go ahead and post it. . . . .Thirdly, The founding father DID NOT believe that all men were created equal because most of them were slave owners who believe that blacks were inferior and less human than whites. . .
Re: Obama Tones Down National Day Of Prayer Observance by debosky(m): 11:57am On Jul 07, 2010
All men created equal indeed - yet as evidence has been provided, the writers also owned hundreds of slaves.

Let Ola keep trying to justify the unjustifiable - the declarations were only beneficial to the whites till others fought for it.

Easy, you don't need to foam all over your mouth to get your point across at least you are entitled to your opinion.  Only if you had read the article posted you would have got the answers to the questions you were looking for but your emotions would not permit.

The article pointed out how we are equal historically, individually, genetically and eternally and used scriptures and real science respectively as evidence.  The fact that you don't agree with it doesn't mean that you should bark up the wrong tree.  I challenge you and your fellow atheists (evolutionists, theist evolutionists, and other atheist religious Africans) to deal with your own models who think that you are the closest relatives to monkeys.

Yes, I accept that some of the founding fathers might have been slave owners but the fact that they have corrected this anomally by giving freedom to every people group (even though it had to be fought for) does not mean that we should now wallow in self pity and not get up from the dust to do something tangible with our lives.  I still thank God for the likes of Abraham Lincoln who took the bull by the horn to see that slave trade was abolished and Martin Luther King Jnr for the struggle to see it accomplished.  Charles Darwin who was coincidentally born on the same day as Abraham Lincoln saw Africans as animals and many of you hail him as the best thing since sliced bread and you follow his ideology believing that you are animals evolved from scum.  If I was to call you a monkey you will say that is an insult but if Darwin says that your ancestors are monkeys you will give him a nobel peace award.  Think about the words of Charles Darwin, Thomas Huxley and their students in the quote below and come back to tell me that they are still your atheist heroes.

At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace throughout the world the savage races. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes … will no doubt be exterminated. The break will then be rendered wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilized state, as we may hope, than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as at present between the negro or Australian and the gorilla.” -- Charles Darwin

No rational man, cognizant of the facts, believes that the average negro is the equal, still less the superior, of the white man. And if this be true, it is simply incredible that, when all his disabilities are removed, and our prognathous relative has a fair field and no favor, as well as no oppressor, he will be able to compete successfully with his bigger-brained and smaller-jawed rival, in a contest which is to be carried on by thoughts and not by bites.” -- Thomas Huxley shocked shocked shocked shocked

The Negroid stock is even more ancient than the Caucasian and Mongolians, as may be proved by an examination not only of the brain, of the hair, of the bodily characteristics , but of the instincts, the intelligence. The standard of intelligence of the average adult Negro is similar to that of the eleven-year-old-youth of the species Homo sapiens.” -- Henry Fairfield Osborn   shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Charles Darwin and his disciples are examples of the heroes of atheism, it is amazing that black Africans atheists would believe and swallow what these proponents of the humanist religions says hook, line and sinker.  You can see the quotes of what they believe about the black race and that they believe that they are highly evolved than us and that we are close to the ape like creature that we evolved from.  Yet, these atheists have the effrontery to say that the founding fathers of America most of them church goers who believed in (the Creator and creation just like majority in Nigeria today) and where not Darwinian evolutionists are slave owners.

I think that it was Winston Churchill that said "dogs looks up to us, cats look down on us but pigs sees us as equals"

Pathetic attempt by you OLA - because we've proven your beloved 'founding fathers' are racists and held beliefs that were not Christian in any sense by owning and enslaving their fellow human beings, you now try to paint atheists as being bad?

So they are both as evil as each other - racists all through, especially your so called founding fathers. Congratulations. grin

I had said earlier that people like John Newton who sang the amazing grace was once a slave trader who later repented and began to fight for the abolition of the slave trade here in the U.K. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But your evolutionists heroes such as Darwin and his disciples have been waxing strong and stronger in their atheist religions such as nazism, stalinism, evolutionism, humanism, communism, feminism, homosexualism and racism as we speak. You are aware of those who have been selling our people to these world powers through capitalism (survival of the fittest) and I believe one of their puppets is getting ready to sell our country off again to his masters enriching his pocket once again. Many of you are beneficiaries of those who had ripped off our country, had benefitted from servants in your homes who many were treated like animals even in some African countries such practise of slave trade is still rampant. Your forefathers are known to have sold people captured in war situations to the caucasians and are still doing it today even to their own kith and kins with the promise that they are going to improve their standard of living only for them to find themselves in a syndicate (a form of sex slave trade), this also happens with footballers by our own people (agents) and you come here to blame everything on the white man, please don't get me started.

Wow, so now you realise that? After praising the founding fathers as if they were doing the will of God, forgetting their blatant racism and slave trade. cheesy Better late than never i guess.

I have no evolutionist heroes - unlike you, I don't hold onto the flawed actions of men and praise them to the high heavens. Besides, Racism was practised actively by your founding fathers, and since you so support them, it is YOUR religion too. grin

Wow, so many accusations - you know nothing about me, so quit making silly assumptions. The main people involved in 'selling off' Africans have been people proclaiming to be coming in the 'name of the Lord'. So called 'Christians' have committed more crimes against Africans than any others. I am not blaming everything on the white man, but your myopic heroic worship of the so called declaration is foolish when we know the originators did NOT feel men were equal but enslaved their fellow men. SIMPLE.

When you stop worshiping the white man, we'll stop blaming him for all the problems. Deal? grin

God does not Forget

TEXT: ACTS 7:17-35

"I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt" (Acts 7:34).

A Christian song-writer wrote, “God does not forget, all He promised He would do, He will surely do.”  The depth of oppression and depression the children of Israel went through in Egypt would have been enough for anyone passing through tough times to think that God has forgotten the promises He had made to Abraham.  Things got so bad that laws were enacted for the killing of Jewish male babies.

Yet, it was in that era that God provided for the nurture and nourishment of Moses who eventually delivered Israel from Egyptian bondage.

God’s expressed love, care and concern for Israel in affliction is a great encouragement to all believers who are passing through various difficulties today.  As God sent Moses as a deliverer to liberate Israel out of slavery and bondage in Egypt, so He has sent Jesus Christ as our Deliverer to set us free from the hands of the oppressors today.  God takes notice of the affliction of His people.  "He has looked down . . . to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to loose those that are appointed to death, to declare the name of the Lord in Zion, His praises in Jerusalem" (Psalms 102:19,20).  He is aware of their sorrows, their cries and the areas where the oppressors are oppressing them and He will surely plead their cause against those oppressors.

Whatever troubles you are passing through today as a Christian, remain steadfast, prayerful and trusting.  The Lord who delivered Israel will deliver you because He does not forget His promises.  If you have not been saved, receive forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus so as to be delivered out of the bondage of sin and Satan’s stronghold.

Talk For Today:  "Wait, I say, on the Lord . . ."

For More . . .

Then focus on that instead of praising the founders as if they were not flawed human beings with TERRIBLE mistakes.

This takes us back to the root of the discussion - if the so called 'founding fathers' made heinous mistakes like supporting slavery and weren't tagged anti Christs, I wonder why Obama is being castigated for simply changing the mode of observance of the national day of prayer.

"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it; and if I could do it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that, " ---Abraham Lincoln

George Washington was a slave trader because he inherited it, the stain on his legacy was that he did not eradicate it during his life time but in his Will in 1799 was to emancipate all his slaves when his wife dies, and his estate cared for the elderly and infirmed emancipated slaves. This shows that he did something to end this trade. Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president to abolish slave trade and going by what the party stands for I am not surprised that you are likely to vote against it.

Knowing that atheists are over the moon that they would not have to sing God bless America as sung by Wintley Phipps in the clip posted earlier, my question is: How did you manage until Obama gave you a glimmar of hope that you do not have to sing that song? Did you sing "Hmmmmmmmmmm bless America."?

It is becoming clear why he would want to end the National Day of Prayer celebrations.

Watch an African American pastor comment on Hussein Obama's cancellation of the National Day of Prayer celebration and how he then participated in the muslims' call to prayer in the White House, I even learnt that he declared a whole month for their festival.

ACLJ: Court Decision Declaring National Day of Prayer Unconstitutional 'Flawed' -- Case Could End up before the Supreme Court

WASHINGTON - (Business Wire) The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) which represented 31 members of Congress in an amicus brief defending the National Day of Prayer, said today's decision by a federal district court in Wisconsin declaring the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional is flawed and expressed confidence that this decision will be overturned.

"It is unfortunate that this court failed to understand that a day set aside for prayer for the country represents a time-honored tradition that embraces the First Amendment, not violates it," said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ. "This decision runs counter to well established legal precedent and we are confident that this flawed decision ultimately will be overturned. We will be filing a brief representing members of Congress challenging this federal district court decision in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. If the appeals court fails to reverse this decision, we are confident the Supreme Court will hear the case and ultimately determine that such proclamations and observances like the National Day of Prayer not only reflect our nation's rich history, but are indeed consistent with the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment."
