Hajiya Rahmatu Mohammed Yar’adua is the Honourable Commissioner of Niger State Ministry of Mineral Resources. She was hitherto before her present appointment the Commissioner of Niger State Ministry of Investment, Commerce, and Industry and the
Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

Rahmatu hails from Enagi in Edati Local Government Area of Niger State. She is happily married to the man that she describes as her
sturdy rock and best friend. He is Alh. Murtala Shehu Yar’adua. An astute businessman and a pilitician.The Honourable Commissioner started her Primary Education at Adrao International School, Lagos and then moved to the United Kingdom where she attended Ibstock Place School London, UK.

After her common entrance examination, she proceeded to the prestigious Millfield School in Somerset, UK and then Ashbourne College London, UK for her GCSE’s and A levels. She proceeded to the university of Coventry where she earned a BA(Hons.) degree with a second class upper in International Relations and English. The Honourable Commissioner started her career with Platform Nigeria Limited, one of the main contractors of the Gwarimpa Federal
Housing Estates, as a Project Support Officer. She was later elevated to the post of a Marketing Manager of Platform Nigeria Limited where she managed the effective, efficient and productive operations of that Department.

When she exited Platform Limited, Hajiya Rahmatu joined MicroAccess Limited, one of the pioneers in information and communications technology service providers, as the Chief Marketing Executive. While there, the Commissioner managed the firm’s largest
portfolios such as The National Hospital Abuja, The Corporate Affairs Commission, Ministry of Information, the major oil servicing companies and several other high net-worth individuals. Under her leadership, her team developed the first national website for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the first National Hospital website, and they brought CAC online reducing corporate registration wait times
by more than half.

Hajiya Rahmatu also served as the Director in the Hamble Group in the United Kingdom, where she directed the activities and productivity of the organization, as well as supported the organization’s strategic alliances and partnerships. On returning to
her home continent, she served as the Director of Hamble Group (Africa) where she was commended for initiating new procedures
that improved business efficiency and exceeded targets by 150%.

She has served in different political capacities in the State as a Member of several committees and she is presently representing the State as a Board Member with North South Power Company Limited.The Honourable Commissioner who possesses the passion to help the needy, as well as young individuals that are willing to be useful to the communities has partaken in various philanthropic services
which include scholarships, payment of registration fees for NABTEB, JAMB and WASSCE; drilling of motorized boreholes in various localities across the State, the construction of drainages and bridges
to cushion the effect of erosion in the State among others.

On the job, the Commissioner achieved the following strides in the Ministry of Investment Commerce and Industry: facilitated the
declaration of 19th December as Niger State Day in Atlanta- USA, facilitated the establishment of Niger Cooperative Financing
Agency(NICOFA) to ease access to loans by cooperatives, renovation of accommodation for the cooperative offices and the Ministry Head Office, commencement of Cooperative Data Analysis (CODAS), establishment of Niger State Shear Sector Development Program
(NSSSDP), commencement of the training of individuals for the NSSSDP and she organized the first Niger State Investment Summit.

In the Ministry of Mineral Resources,Hon. Rahmatu has commenced the restructuring of all the Special Purpose Vehicles under the
Ministry which include: Zuma Mineral Development Company, Midland Petrogas Resources Limited and Midland Petrochemicals Limited. She is in the fore front of driving the conclusion of the Bida
Basin exploratory project.

The Commissioner has attended the following international seminars and conferences: The Global Awareness Seminal, The Global Enterprises Seminar, The Global Leaders Program from Coventry University, UK and the United Nations National Model in New-York.
Hon. Rahmatu Mohammed Yar’adua is well travelled around the globe. Thus, she has a good understanding and speaking abilities in
English, Nupe, Hausa, Yoruba, French and Spanish.

Finally, the Honourable Commissioner of Mineral Resources is a fascinating person who believes, in a just egalitarian society for all,
irrespective of social, religious or political differences in giving back to the society.
