The atmosphere is hardly recovering from the SARS brouhaha, deprivation of citizens’ rights for the singular love of pennies. Their unprofessionalism deserves an Oscar, really, they are the best in the race of the worst.

We yell racism but ain’t we the greatest of all? If we don’t love ourselves, how do we expect aliens to do that? Not long ago a video surfaced where a Caucasian was mercilessly punching an African man in an hotel all in the name of preaching (not sure of the nationality) but my people were quick to comment - ‘This will never be tolerated in Nigeria. The question is - ‘isn’t this even our worst nightmare?’

The concept of uniform isn’t understood by majority of our forces and I think the IGP and other CSOs should make some reforms and sensitizations on the following points.

1. The uniform is a property of the federal government, it represents the Nation as a whole, a disregard to it means disregard to the Nation as an entity.

2. The armed forces (Navy, Police etc) are the King’s (President in this case) forces/servants, they represent the President anywhere they go, how can you carry that mindset and still hold an umbrella for an alien?

3. The absence of regard for the uniform is the reason why Officers can enter paraga joints, beer parlours to drink themselves to stupor.

Being a recruit doesn’t equate to illiteracy, recruits should be given proper orientation on this; there should be exams on this and should be a prerequisite to entering any Nigerian Force.

It is rather pathetic and shameful, to see Officers representing a whole country and it’s President fighting women, attacking one the other, rather revering an alien than his/her own country people.
I don’t know if the IGP has eyes on Nairaland or he himself is a ghost reader here, we are saying this is the worst humiliation we can ever experience as citizens.

Yours truly,
A concerned Nigerian.
