Haven't we learned of the saying, that if you divided the wealth of the world equally amongst all its inhabitants, that in time it will return in exactly the same proportions to exactly the same hands.

In contrast haven't we heard of the saying, "Nigeria is a rich country".... so how come a rich entity can be brought out of debt serially. What is wealth then. Someone is obviously lying.

It is better to be in debts with basic infrastructures such as electricity, trains, motorabe roads etc than to be out of debt without working and useful infrastructures

the black man no get sense. until we admit we no get sense we will not progress.

"In character and temperament, the typical African of this race-type is a happy, thriftless, excitable person, lacking in self-control, discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving weapons as an oriental loves jewellery. His thoughts are concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to the animal world than that of the European or Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals' placidity and want of desire to rise beyond the state he has reached.

"Through the ages, the African appears to have evolved no organised religious creed, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural. He lacks the power of organisation, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility - he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue. In brief, the virtues and defects of his race -type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy. Perhaps, the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future"

Nigeria debt toll started back when Yar’adua came to power and it’s so unfortunate we are experiencing this with no caution. I could remember Jonathan government borrowed $3.75billion from IMF and China combined. Africa where is thy glory!

The one way, the only way for Nigeria to get out of our mess. We are stuck in a self made MATRIX and would only repeat the past over and over again. We need to break the cycle.

trillville:
Cocaine is a helluva drug and our choice of drug is crude oil.

Cocaine keeps you in a state of bliss, masks all your problems and can lead you to become less productive when you abuse the drug. Many may not know this but cocaine used to be seen as a stimulant similar to caffeine so it has its positives but when wrongly used leads to problems. The mythical character, Sherlock Holmes regularly smoked cocaine using a pipe.

The term Dutch disease did not originate from Nigeria. It implies that a nation loses its ability to be productive because it sole focus and revenue source comes from the sale of a commodity (raw material, e.g Oil). We are addicted to oil money and as drug addicts, we need to be gradually weaned off of our drug of choice. A cocaine and heroin addict can kill a person for another fix because nothing in life is sweeter than his choice of drug.

How to wean Nigeria off crude oil. We need to be SMART

1. Specific:
A) Put a 10 to 15 year deadline on using income from crude sales to pay government workers (both civil and public services) salaries. All salaries must come from taxes.

B) Use crude oil revenues for Infrastructure such as renewable energy facilities which are cheaper in the long run but costlier to setup, schools, hospitals, roads, low cost housing, water plants, telecommunications infrastructures, and to set up cottage industries in all 774 lga's using a pop framework. Basically, government must use oil money for the benefit of the majority of Nigerians and not pay a few people salaries and believe that the money will trickle down.

C) Introduce policies of low corporate (business) taxes but high personal taxes on things like vehicles and houses. Also raise the VAT to the same level as neighboring African countries.

2. Measurable:
Three key services, security, healthcare and education, need real time information systems to collate a manage data to enable better decision making. Nigerians will also want to demand a higher standard of transparency because they are paying taxes. Information on oil sales and revenue from taxes must become a right for all Nigerians.

3. Actionable:
All Nigerians have a part to play. The government needs to collect revenue and manage it appropriately for the people and the people need to hold the government on account when their desires are not met. Removing the immunity clause from public officers and strengthening the judiciary would speed up the progress of this nation.

4. Relevant:
This policy of getting off our addiction lead to fewer people living in extreme poverty. As a result, security would improve, high birth rates would reduce, quality of life and life span will improve. Happiness and fulfillment of one's abilities would also become the norm.

5. Time: every year, a review of what percent of crude oil is used to pay salaries should be carried out. If government insists on maintaining it's full work force, it would have to increase taxes by the same amount it is forced to reduce from oil income. In economics, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Government must be efficient in making decisions and not carried away by day to day whims.

This is a basic blue print to restructure Nigeria. Every other option in my opinion will end in blood shed. Once more cocaine is a helluva drug. We need to get off it.

Buhari Spent $322m Abacha loots and borrow $328m.

"What Nigeria have today is a failure.Never you reinforce failure."-OBJ. angry

I watched the foreign affairs minister trying to explain the rationale behind this. How can you allow a country returning stolen funds to dictate what you use the money for? You don't even need to have this conversation. Stolen funds is different from debt forgiveness. They can dictate what you use money which ordinarily you would have paid as debt servicing but they cannot tell you what you use monies stolen and returned.

So do you know the history of the white man at all? The crusades how they would bleed people to cure them. How they took one shower a year and dirtiness almost wiped out half the population with disease. How Europeans were slaves to the royals and serfs. How they slaughtered, murdered and killed in the name of manifest destiny.
The brutal and animalistic brain of whitemen put them on top. They can slaughter millions without a blink. See Iraq look how they destroyed and occupied and we still call it civilization smh.

Obasanjo never took Nigeria out of debt. The condition for debt cancellation then was that Nigeria must come back and borrow again. The white men are wise.

Yes, he did many wrong things. As the maxim shareholder and Chairman of 'Nigeria Incorporated', Nigeria has remained dysfunctional over the decades because of him. Not that it could work anyway but he has successfully seen through the policies that brings her back from the brink of revolution time and again.

Now the pent up anger with the present government and system he will not allow to work through to a certain revolution. Just when the people are fed up, like that infamous rat that coaxes its victim into delirium while nibbling at his toes Mr. Obasanjo is at it again with the soothing breeze of the palace change of the Buhari government, obviously with an intention of replacing it with a one which will certainly turn out much worse.

This is just a fat blatant lie!!!, The debt of Nigeria was incurred by OBJ for the building of roads and refinery that was never completely built, the debt rolled over from OBJ to Yar'Adua to GEJ and then to PMB. A mess that PMB has been trying to cleanup just as he is doing with other uncompleted projects PDP left in the office when departing. Nigeria fell into debt because of OBJ

ALTHOUGH OBASANJO IS NOT A SAINT. HE TOO CONTRIBUTED TO THE ECONOMIC WOES NIGERIA IS FACING LARGELY DUE TO THE MASSIVE CORRUPTION THAT TOOK PLACE DURING HIS TIME OF WHICH MONEY MEANT FOR THE POWER SECTOR WAS LOOTED BY KEY MEMBERS OF HIS GOVERNMENT UNDER HIS WATCHFUL EYES.

However, his predecessors like Goodluck Jonathan created more rooms for massive looting of the national treasury thereby increasing the poverty rate in Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari had worsen the fate of the Nigeria economy by borrowing to the detriment of our indebtedness.

President Muhammadu Buhari told us that he does not understand ECONOMICS.
