Veteran Nigerian actress, dancer and a vocalist, Toun Oni is dead. The actress passed away Wednesday morning while being rushed to the hospital. Confirming the news with NEXT in a telephone chat, her son Toyin Oni said the actress had complained about not feeling well. "She fell very weak so we had to rush her to the St Paul's Hospital, Ebute-Metta, but she passed away before we arrived there," he said.

Fondly known as Mama T by fans, the late Toun Oni will be remembered by television audiences for roles in long running soap operas like ‘Checkmate' and ‘Fuji House of Commotion'. Her body is being kept at the St Paul's Hospital, Ebute Metta, Lagos. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced by the family.
