I believe it's because if security risk from robbers and protestors who might try to rob the bank or attack the banks facility.

If any of these happen, the bank will spend money and time to repair their facility maybe minimum 1 week so it might be more cost effective and cheaper to shutdown for a day or 2 than risk losing money or having property destroyed and possibly having the bank branch closed for a week to make repairs

Are they subscribers to the labor congress? Or do they have a separate representative umbrella as banks?

Since NLC is the umbrella organization for all trade unions in the country then it’s only right they join up.

If they don’t join the strike in solidarity, then one day when banks illegally lay off staffs or lay off staffs without remuneration/compensation, the NLC will not fight for them and they will be left to handle their issues on their own; they stand a greater chance of winning any fight if the NLC is involved.
