NANS DISSOCIATES FROM ALLEGED ENDORSEMENT OF SANWO-OLU
Following a report that a coalition of youth associations and students groups under the auspices of Jide Sanwo-Olu Youths and Student Campaign Organisation have endorsed him for Lagos state governor, the National Association Of Nigerian Student (NANS) has dissociated itself from the alleged endorsement of Sanwo-Olu as the governor in 2019.

In a statement, NANS President Danielson Akpan said, “NANS feels embarrassed by this act of impersonation as this goes to show the level of desperation of the characters involved in the act.”

The union further expressed their dissatisfaction for the All Progressive Congress (APC) adding no man worth his onions will tow the part of bringing the image of NANS to disrepute in order to score cheap political popularity and mislead the public.

KOGI POLYTECHNIC LECTURER SLUMPS AND DIES
A lecturer at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr. Yakubu Nataala, reportedly slumped and died at his residence in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The deceased died on Sunday, September 30, 2018.

According to the residents of the area, they noted that the deceased might have died due to non-payment of his salary.

He was said to have received his last salary in July 2017.

UNIJOS SUG PRESIDENT CONFIRMS DEATH OF STUDENT IN LATEST JOS CRISIS
Comrade Pantu Fwangshak, the President of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) Students’ Union Government (SUG) has reacted to the death of a student of the institution who died in the recent attack in Plateau State.

The SUG president made this known in a statement issued by Damak Joseph, his Chief of Staff on Sunday, September 30, adding that another UNIJOS student was injured in the crisis.

He, however, denied the claims that seven students were killed in the crisis.

PEW RESEARCH: TRUMP’S INTERNATIONAL RATINGS REMAIN LOW, ESPECIALLY AMONG KEY ALLIES
As the second anniversary of U.S. President Donald Trump’s election approaches, a new 25-nation Pew Research Center survey finds that Trump’s international image remains poor, while ratings for the United States are much lower than during Barack Obama’s presidency.

The Center’s new poll also finds that international publics express significant concerns about America’s role in world affairs. Large majorities say the U.S. doesn’t consider the interests of countries like theirs when making foreign policy decisions. Many believe the U.S. is doing less to help solve major global challenges than it once did. And there are signs that American soft power is waning as well: While the U.S. maintains its reputation for respecting individual liberty, fewer believe this than a decade ago.
