Smoking Beggar: Should I Help Her? by toshmann(m): 11:39am On Apr 06, 2007
i saw a poor beggar in the streets of cardiff yesterday. just as i was about to give her some money i saw her rush to beg for a cigarette from a passer by and started smoking ravishingly. i was absolutely discouraged by that because i'm one of those xtains who believe that smoking is unholy. so i didn't giver her the money i wanted to give her. but i'm not sure i did the right thing.

so that leads to the question of the thread. . . .should a beggar's moral status affect a decision to give to them?

in other words, was i right in not giving her the money?

help me please, i want to be on God's side

Tosh,
in as much as it goes against your principles, if you are led to give to the beggar then by all means give, but you have to listen to your heart to do that. Usually if you do you will know and there will be a witness in your spirit.
i know couple of people have been faced with that same dilemma; you meet a beggar and you know within you that he/she is gonna use the money to buy more booze, or cigar or even drugs, and you wonder if you should give to satisfy all righteousness or if you should desist from doing so. you are against cigar, in other words you would not advise someone to go buy one or use one, therefore i don't think you did the wrong thing. it would be another case if you didnt know what the person was gonna use the money for. on the other hand, if she was going to use the money from you for food, then she must have missed her chances by her impulsive action, but i think the chances are slim of her using the money for something rather than cigar or even booze.

What selfrighteous nonsense.
Give from your heart without any deeper meaning to it.
Afterall at the end of the day these people still eat something.
In Germany now Beggars are a Mafia thing well organized.
They have an Oga that drives a fat Daimler that sends them out to beg.
These people live their country to come here for better life.
So who am i helping the beggar or the Oga. If the beggar dose not bring in enough money he is punished.
Give or do not give but do not judge.

@mamaput,
i'm not judging. i did not give, but I only asked in humility if what I did was right. shocked to learn about the beggar organisation in germany. anyways, I welcome ur suggestions.

i think giving is a thing that has to do with the mind , when giving you dont count on the behaviour or the act of the person you are giving the money, you do your own part and allow God to judge, whether organisation from Germany or so all you need to do is to give and let God see your heart of giving. thanks,
