PDP Convention: Lawmakers Back Saraki as Presidential Candidate

There is a strong possibility to the effect that Nigeri's Federal Lawmakers have cast their weight behind the President of the Nigerian Senate and Presidential Candidate of the People's Democratic Party, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, at the ongoing Presidential primaries of the People's Democratic Party,PDP, at Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

A source within the highest ranks of the party who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said the lawmakers decided to identify with Saraki as a way of showing solidarity and support for one of their own.

Dr. Saraki who is the President of the 8th Senate is said to have achieved great feats as Leader of the country's highest lawmaking body and that the support he's garnering may not be unconnected to these achievements.

The convention which has no less than 12 candidates jostling for the party's presidential ticket is peacefully progressing at the time of report.

UPDATE:

As at 2:00pm, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has met with 19 State delegations in the last 12hours. More previously undecided delegates have started pledging their support. #PDPConventionPHC

UPDATE. 3:00pm:

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has just met with the Niger State delegates on the sidelines of #PDPConventionPHC.

Sen Dr Bukola Saraki is certainly the man to look out for. As a party man, I have looked at these men. I think they are all good. Since, I'm not a delegate to the convention, I'd support anyone who emerges. The enemy to my enemy is a common enemy.

The push now is to rescue Nigeria and reset it on the path to progress.

I wish the delegates the grace to make the right choice.

PDP... Change de Change (Power to the people).

I'm praying that this Saraki man will emerge as the PDP flag bearer so that he will receive the beating of his life.

He probably fail to understand the difference between legislative politics and general election politics.

your prayer is already answered, but beaten, not possible...

Nigerians vote along tribal lines. They are not literate enough to vote on character. Therefore, where is Saraki from, North or South West? He's just from from a minor ethnic group in Kwara state. Controlling 198 educatedo and independent-minded elders in senate is different from asking almajiris and shop keepers to vote you. They would ask in their local dialects, ''where is he from''.I'm sorry to sound like this, but it's a bitter truth. Give it to Atiku! Let Saraki return to senate and still deliver Kwara to PDP.

Someone that couldn't grow Kwara state for 8yrs as governor and another 8yrs as governor by proxy,
He couldn't grow Savanah bank, couldn't grow the senate, He doesn't have a notable source of income besides politics now he wants to grow Nigeria? undecided
I'm Anti- Buhari o but if It's to replace Buhari with Saraki, den I'd rather sit at home on election day.
